So, from that clip, not only does M.F. seem more than a bit fuzzy on the difference between Sci-Fi and, y'know, actual science,
but even more clueless about WHY the D.O.T. was advising use of mass transit on Eclipse Day: maybe, Einstein, it's because
more people are expected to be on the road traveling to and from viewing points not because they think it's more dangerous
to drive during the brief moments of totality
(none of which were going to be anywhere near his chauffeur driven limo anyway!)

And, btw, if he's upset because he thinks that network news spent too much coverage on the eclipse I'm not sure why he's surprised.
As a self-proclaimed regular watcher of nightly news programs he should know that they now spend about 20-25% of their coverage
these days on weather. The eclipse is just a different version of their usual schtick.
