Santana (on short rest) vs Nolasco

My last post just made me Mike Jacobs. May Mike Jacobs play with the zest, elan and physical capabilities of me today.

Our NEW YORK METS!:
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 10:36 AM |
I'm kind of down with that lineup, though I'd swap Blastro and Heartinez.

Game will NOT start on time.

I'll take it. Better when everybody's involved. Murphy's grounder sneaks through and we're still out there. We know the Fish aren't going to roll over. We have to outplay them. AT their best. And we can.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Sep 27 2008 12:10 PM |
Santana's throwing pebbles. Can he start tomorrow, as well?

Hey, idea! Let's have them score ten or twelve runs this inning, then end Santana's day so he's nice and fresh for a start tomorrow!

Vince Coleman Firecracker Sep 27 2008 12:22 PM |
This might be as good as I've ever seen Santana pitch. Keep it up, Johan.
OlerudOwned Sep 27 2008 12:23 PM |
This is like Maine's season-on-the-brink game, redux. 5 Ks through the first turn of the order.

So we might see a fight?
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 12:28 PM |
Let's get a bunt single or something. Nolasco seems better pitching from a windup.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 12:37 PM |
Just my impression, but Wright came to play.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 12:41 PM |
A bunt may also work because of the wet grass.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 12:41 PM |
Or an HbP. That's good too.
seawolf17 Sep 27 2008 12:46 PM |
If you thought on April 1 that our most productive Martinez would be Ramon, raise your hand.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Sep 27 2008 12:46 PM |
Ramon Martinez refuses to let the Mets get eliminated.
Zvon Sep 27 2008 12:46 PM |
What a fantastic at bat by Ramon Martinez.
seawolf17 Sep 27 2008 12:46 PM |
True. Of course, he's had to deal with getting crapped on the last few days, so maybe he has a little extra something.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 12:46 PM |
Good thing that ball got loose. Murphy loses a gear going for a third base, particularly on wet track.

seawolf17 Sep 27 2008 01:13 PM |
Yes, that play was incredible, but if that's anyone other than Carlos Delgado (or maybe Charlie O'Brien), it's not even close.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Sep 27 2008 01:13 PM |
Nice play by Han-Ram, the bastid.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 01:14 PM |
OK, Hanley. That's just bullshit.
OlerudOwned Sep 27 2008 01:14 PM |
I thought Hanley was supposed to be a lousy defender.
Zvon Sep 27 2008 01:15 PM |
Wow. Even after he caught it and rolled onto his ass to throw I had that pegged for an easy single. He got alot on that throw.

This would be a good time for Church to overcome his brain damage.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 01:28 PM |
Nope. He's one of those high-error-total but wide-ranging types. Sons of Frank Taveras.
John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 27 2008 01:29 PM |
How many times will he get fooled on that?
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 01:30 PM |

AG/DC Sep 27 2008 01:36 PM |
97 through seven for Santana.

Vince Coleman Firecracker Sep 27 2008 01:37 PM |
Santana's looking like a bargain at 17 mil this year.

104 pitches. Amazin'.
Vince Coleman Firecracker Sep 27 2008 01:48 PM |
Johan, in effect, took Tom Glavine's spot in the rotation for this team. The contrast is startling.
AG/DC Sep 27 2008 01:48 PM |

Frayed Knot Sep 27 2008 01:52 PM |

John Cougar Lunchbucket Sep 27 2008 01:55 PM |
strap 'em on, fellas.
Zvon Sep 27 2008 01:56 PM |

I thought it caught some white. And Keith is right. Beltran has to take that guy out on that DP. He also looked kinda meek on yesterdays DP that Church hit into. Well, I guess thats the way they play the game these days.

Gwreck Sep 27 2008 03:46 PM |
Absolutely stunning game to have seen in person. I'll guess that this is perhaps the greatest pitching performance I've ever seen in person. I guess it tops the Glendon Rusch 1-hitter because of the significance of the game.

Could the NL Cy Young be in the cards for Santana? I can't imagine him finishing any worse than fourth, and this performance might change some minds.
seawolf17 Sep 27 2008 06:35 PM |
Awesome. Just awesome. And yes, Val, I think Johan's the Cy Young winner. He won't be, because Lincecum has struck out every single batter he's faced this season, but he should be.
