Marte has missed significant time though right?
And Ozuna is not just a martini-sipper, and an alleged steroid user, but a wife beater - he can fuck off I wouldn't vote for him if he hit 100 home runs

Re: Lindor Gets Noticed
I'm treating any DH 'as if' they are already a negative on defense. It shouldn't be impossible for them to win the award but the bar is going to be a lot higher.

Re: Lindor Gets Noticed
I also agree that Lindor is a great player. It could be difficult to properly appreciate him because so much of his value is in his defense. He's about as good a fielding shortstop as there is, but without necessarily being spectacular looking in the field. And shortstop is one of the two or three ...

In an already strange profile in Town & Country, RFK Jr.'s daughter Kick Kennedy once shared the sort of childhood memory that stays with you for all the wrong reasons. Kick's taste for the extreme was fed by her dad's eccentric environmentalism. Exhibit A: When she was six, word got out that a...

I don't think there is any rule of baseball anywhere, written or unwritten, that says you can't swing 3-0 in a tie game in the ninth. There is no etiquette against 3-0 swings - if he broke etiquette, it was by admiring his shot for so long before starting his trip around the bases. They used to bea...

Freeland is a batting practice pitcher, Mets need to jump all over this guy and not only win the game but knock him out early and get their bullpen tired for tomorrow!

Weird story, but as long as the bear was truly dead when he found it that's all it is, a weird story. What is he guilty of, littering with the largest piece of litter ever? "Dumping" maybe?
Sounds like this guy is desperate for press, maybe even leaked the story himself.

It should be ball one if you don't at least immediately grimace in pain or rub the spot.

Well, Trump isn't wrong... Putin didn't do it for "nothing" and perhaps for Trump he would have done for "nothing"*
*Nothing publicly admitted to, that is.

Nate Silver has Harris at 43% today. He had Biden at 27% the day he quit the race with further cautioning that Silver felt the things his model couldn't take into account were likely going against Biden too.
So... We have a race again!

Admiral McRaven has pulled his name from consideration. One down! 99 times out of 100 when someone publicly "pulls their name from consideration" for running mate, a cabinet appointment, an ambassadorship, etc it is because they already privately learned that they are not on the list :)

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be any post-convention bump. That could be (a) the candidate switch on the other side stealing their thunder, (b) a convention that inspired nobody, (c) that his convention bump came a few days early in the form of the shooting, or (d) some combination of all of those. T...

I like that Butto went 3 innings in relief and threw 40 pitches tonight. I have a bad feeling they will need him stretched out to make some starts before this season is over, but a good feeling about how he'll handle it

The problem is that the alleged virtues of Steinbrenner's leadership are pretty much exactly what took President Trump to the top. We can have a good old time laughing at it all, but I feel like the last laugh was on us. I don't think there has to be a disconnect between enjoying Steinbrenner antic...

It's really kind of surprising the Yankees are this bad. The thing is though that they built up so much equity early in the season (they were freakin' 45 - 19) that they STILL have the third best record in the AL (barely behind Baltimore & Cleveland) and fifth best in MLB [PHI, LAD] despite pla...

Fell asleep putting my kids to bed so I missed most of this one. What a nice score to come back to! Ottavino getting the W for one out in the 5th inning of a 10 run victory really puts the LOL in that stat. Official scorer should have credited the Win to Young (which one? he shouldn't say, that is t...

I don't know. Hold your breath, hope for the best, and try to get through your day may not seem like the wisest, most prescient, or most leaderly strategy, but it's a natural-default of a strategy a lot of us tend to live by. I don't think it was a good strategy for the party as a whole, but I just...

Which raises the question as to why she didn't do this two years (or even six-eight months) ago when it would have given Dem voters a choice in who would represent them. Because he was still the sitting president and this would have looked terrible on her part BEFORE the debate which was when most ...

West Virginia isn't just "red" it's ORANGE - The "Trumpiest" state in the nation even if not the most Republican.
Makes it all the more remarkable that Manchin hung on there so long.
As far as extracting benefits for his state to agree to legislation - well, isn't that his job?
