Re: SCHAEFER METS PLAYERS OF THE YEAR 2022

Yeah, the Ruf award definitely needs an asterisk. And here I was thinking the joke points I gave him for his pitching performance wouldn't matter in the end.

And he only needed three pitches to do it, unless that's a misprint.

Zeb has been assigned to the FCL Mets, in what used to be known as the Gulf Coast League.

Summer break!

9 race weekends left, starting with the Belgian Grand Prix. Another classic circuit I really enjoy, it's almost like F1's super speedway. If you guys are interested I could set up a F1 fantasy league for the second half of the season.

Re: Adopted : Zebulon Vermillion

I missed this yesterday, but Zebulon has signed a minor league deal for a $20k bonus. He's doing the team a solid by signing for a lot less than the $152k slot value of the pick. You don't have a whole lot of negotiating leverage as a 5th-year senior.

Re: Vroom

French Grand Prix this weekend. The last couple races have been pretty exciting, but the French typically isn't. I'm hoping that the fact that these new cars can follow more closely might create more overtaking opportunities and spice things up a bit more than years past.

Re: SPIN's 5 Albums I Can't Live Without

I dunno, I think the Wall really needs to be heard start to finish, like most Floyd albums. The fact that a lot of those songs are played individually on the radio is a detriment. To me, The Wall is slightly underrated (whatever that means) by most people.

I saw the movie once and fell asleep though.

Wish You Were Here is a better album than Dark Side and I'll die on that hill.

I'm pretty sure Animals will always be my favorite though.

Adopted : Zebulon Vermillion

Welcome to 2022 10th round pick Zebulon Vermillion, a right handed reliever out of the University of Arkansas. He arrives presumably in his final form at 6'5" / 240 lb. His super cool name immediately got my attention, but it turns out he's just named after Zebulon Pike, some old guy who got a ...

Re: Vroom

I don't see how he could have gotten himself out at all. Luckily he wasn't on fire like Grosjean was a couple years ago.

But yeah, Zhou was out there in qualifying today, he just didn't perform very well.

Re: Vroom

So this weekend in Austria is a bit different... an experimental new wrinkle introduced last year moves qualifying to Friday for a sprint race on Saturday. The results of that sprint race determine the starting grid for the race on Sunday. I'm still getting used to the format, but I think it's an at...

F1 Grand Prix sites was a category in today's JEOPARDY episode. Hope you gear heads cleaned up. Was Silverstone mentioned? That's the site of the British Grand Prix this weekend. The circuit began life during World War II as an airfield for the Royal Air Force before being repurposed as a race cour...

Re: Vroom

Rainy conditions always tend to mix things up and today's qualifying held to form. The race tomorrow should be fun to watch, we've got frontrunners at the back who will need to fight their way through the grid, and midfield guys starting up front who will be trying to defend those spots.

Re: Vroom

That is correct. It looks like several drivers will end up taking grid place penalties (including Leclerc) so it should be fun watching him try to work his way up through the field. The rest of the year this track is a public road surrounding a park, so there aren't a lot of large runoff areas or gr...

Re: Vroom

Yeah, it's funny. The actual race is sometimes almost a footnote to the practice sessions, qualifying, and all of the teamwork that makes up the entire race weekend. But the race is where the points get scored. After both Ferraris dropped out, most of the drama was gone since they're the only other ...

Uz5ShozORIA Qualifying for Baku is on Saturday at 10am. I highly suggest watching it, or at least setting the DVR. It's more than simply sending cars out one by one and seeing who can set the fastest time, there's some competition and drama involved with the way they have it organized. Plus it help...
