Re: Hank²!!
An exponential amount of bad news today, as Hank² was one of 11 (further) minor-eaguers cut loose like a whole load of deuces.

Re: You Always Remember Your First Time
The argument for Jack Morris was always about 91% "He had the most wins in the 1980s." That wasn't exactly irrelevant , but yeah, find me a better bottom line than pitching wins, and apply the same standard to all 10-year periods, whether or not they began with a 0 and ended with a 9, and ...

Which is probably what more than a few owners are planning on doing. The parking spot or two alone should totally be worth Carl Crawford money.

Beat two types of cancer in college. Was lauded as the type of high-makeup, high-quality individual they wanted in the organization.
Which is nice, right up until you trade him for a guy who defended Wander Franco.

Mem-Orzes
Eric Orze spent four seasons as a Met farmhand, always right there (he reached AAA for 12 innings in his first summer as a pro), but never quite crossing over, ultimately appearing in two games as a Met and distinguishing himself only by his ineffectiveness. But surely you have something more nuance...

Six All-Star Games for CC. Fifty-nine WARs. Three thousand strikeouts. A Cy Young Award. A bunch of 230+ inning seasons as that mark became increasingly rare.

That's two (expected) snubs from Manaea — first declining his option and then declining this, which kind of works as a player option of sorts too.

I would discourage rooting for Mets to fail in order to convince the team they are bad.
An alternative — rooting for Mets to prosper in order to enjoy victories — has more satisfaction without the side effect of shooting oneself in the foot.

Justin Time
The Mets have made their semi-regular signing of a guy with no MLB experience to an MLB contract, inking Voorhees Township, NJ native Justin Hagenman to a sweetiepie deal. Righthander Justin functioned as a starter for Woosta last season producing an unremarkable 4.91 ERA. The Mets (and presumably a...

The sentencing of the felonious president is delayed indefinitely, and seemingly infinitely.
The 34 convictions may well be tossed as well, as I suspect the prosecutors and judge are living in terror of payback.

I also want to throw a bone to the little kid in the red suspenders. Yeah, pile-driver Bruce wouldn't outfit his kid like that, but I got the read that BS is sleeping in on Sunday and Mom has the kids dressed for church and sent them in to wake Dad up.

Julianne is rockin' in the crowd at Maxwell's, sort of at 7:00 if you treat Bruce as 12.
More importantly, she's also the wifey figure come to pick Bruce up at the end.

That shot of Winker and Alonso slapping is pretty bad to have made it onto two back pages.
Not a lot of strong shots here apart from the one Senga taking the field with vapor exploding out from his ass.
The shot of Mr. Met doing his thing on artificial turf is jarring.

Yeah, that use of "speedball" was weird. The use of "Nettles" in "San Diego" was interesting. Firstly it suggested that the only thing worse than being a guy who's no longer good enough for the Yankees and is playing out his career in exile is being the guy who so clear...
