Re: Is it too late to adopt Vientos?
I see Vientos and hopefully remember that Mike Schmidt hit around .200 in his first 500 MLB AB. Later And he mostly played every day during those 500+ at bats... September callup in '72 and then was called mid April in '73 And while Schmidt was a gold glove Third baseman in his career, he made plen...

Is it too late to adopt Vientos?
He should have a little more respect from the team in terms of being a prospect...guy is a Dave Kingman like power threat, and similarly to Kingman can play 1B/3B/LF just not up to metrics that the team uses...then again, I don't think that McNeil did either until they were forced to give McNeil a s...

Re: Adopted Mike Vasil
He turned 23 in March. He's come up through the ranks, from the Florida Coast League to St. Lucie to Brooklyn before arriving at Binghamton. He's long been on the Mets ranked prospect list. Buzz is we may see him at Citi Field as soon as 2024. If we continue to stink, I wouldn't be surprised by the...

Re: What Happens in Vegas: A’s in Vegas
The answer to that is that the ballpark won't be what generates money for the state and municipality. The gambling will be. I saw something yesterday that the A's are leaning towards 4 pm starts as their default starting time...their logic: people can go to the game and then still have time to hit ...

Re: Spencer Strider seems like a Dickhead
"Seems", yeah. And his comments after losing to the Mets last year about cheap hits almost confirmed it, but: Strider had been diagnosed with high blood pressure at 18. Unable to pitch, he researched new eating habits. He quit meat and his body appreciated it, he said. Being vegan also “[...

Re: What Happens in Vegas: A’s in Vegas
I think they'll play in Oakland through next year and then in the existing minor league park in Vegas until the new stadium is ready. They built that AAA stadium in a year, they are used to quick construction in Vegas, so they could conceivably build a MLB stadium in record time... But also to back...

I thought that Oakland colliseum still looks cool...makes me feel like it's 1973 all over again...I think that the A's should be forced to stay there forever...nothing that Orkin and RotoRouter can't fix... Nothing that a wrecking ball can't fix! It's a multipurpose disaster with crazy foul territo...

After raking in the winter leagues, and hitting impressively in Spring Training...Mauricio has kept it full throttle on hitting so far in AAA Syracuse: 13 runs; 22 hits; 1 triple; 7 doubles; 6 home runs; 14 RBI; 2 steals; 4 walks; .355 Average; 1.193 OPS; 49 Total Bases in 16 games played. Re: Fast prospects that can't run?
De Los Santos looks intriguing, however it's concerning that he's 23 but has never played above A ball St Lucie. The age thingie tends to make scouts discount prospects. But when they scout a college player of the same age, it is sometimes overlooked. In his case I'd chalk that up to the disruption...

Re: Fast prospects that can't run?
Coaching as in not teaching them how to read pitchers and catchers.
By comparison, Cleveland got 104 steals with only 21 caught stealing from their starting infield, left fielder and center fielder last season. Some of them are guys that don't appear overly fast.

Re: Fast prospects that can't run?
IMO, the Mets have had several prospects in recent years (aka the "Sandy" years) that might have been considered fast runners, but looking at their numbers, it didn't translate into success in the running game... Examples: Ronny Maurico: 39 steals; 34 caught stealing (minors); however in t...
