Memories of Abraham Almonte

Post by Edgy MD » Thu Feb 15, 2024 1:51 pm

Two weeks ago, on February 1, apparently, everybody at your favorite news outlets was sleeping on the job, because they all missed the hot bombshell of a scoop that 2023 Met Abraham Almonte had signed for the 2024 season with Olmecas de Tabasco of the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol.

The Cranepool Forum is here to correct that error.

I was at the game in which Almonte made his Met debut in the company of a friend approaching his late twenties who marveled the Mets had picked up a bouncing around veteran he remembered from when he collected cards way back in his teens. That same night, my young friend opined that today’s Mets are goofier and not as cool as the Mets he grew up watching.

Welcome to the club, no longer a kid, I was tempted to say.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Another rotund one who the Mets kept around about seven games too long.
