He bet more than $150,000 on baseball, including $87,319 on MLB-related bets, the league said. Additionally, Marcano placed 25 bets on Pirates games last season while he was on the team. However, all of these wagers occurred after he suffered a season-ending knee injury in July 2023.

In one of the game threads I actually mentioned that they were throwing games, tongue in cheek somewhat. But maybe they really are.

They are Major League Baseball players, who can tell you all about the menacing threats that have been inflicted upon their lives since MLB and gambling companies got into bed together.

Wow. This is new to me. This is a problem I had no idea existed until I read that piece. Not to sound like the "Master of the Obvious", but it's so true that money really is the root of all evil. The most extreme example being these greedy corporate scumbag fatcats who are going to destroy our planet by knowingly undermining the climate change movement because the multi millions of dollars that they already have arn't enough dollars for them. /gets off soapboxMFS62 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 2:49 pm The intrusion of gamblers into MLB is becoming a problem - with threats:

Whether or not he's guilty, the league is slipping into a whack-a-mole situation.
They have to keep the problem at bay as well as the specter contained. If the perception of honest competition is affected, MLB could lose big.
