Sorta like Thor, but Endgame Thor, acquired by the Mets from the Mariners.

AA/AAA outfielder Rhylan Thomas going to Seattle.

Basically the Mariners got a good reliever in Yimi Garcia earlier in the day, then sent us the guy he replaced. Meh, but low-risk.

Quite possibly bow hunting.

Named after Holla-Famer Ryne Sandberg.

One could imagine a conversation between him and Mark Canha if he were still around.
Canha would be talking about the best restaurants in town while Stanek chimes in with the finer points of carving Elk steaks in the field.

46G but 36 IP.
That looks kinda' odd with the new relief rules .

Looking at his last five outings with the Mariners, you can see how that happens. He made 5 appearances, faced a total of 16 batters over 2.2 innings pitched. Essentially, at least in his last 5 appearances, he doesn't face very many batters, but he records even fewer outs. As a result, his innings pitched was pretty low.

Let's just say at least in his last 5 outings, he hasn't been too good at preventing runs and getting outs.

He does have a history of success in the past. He is armed with a 97-100 mph fast ball and a very good splitter. Hopefully, a change of scenery will help the "good" Stanek to emerge.

I remember watching another relief pitcher in NY named Ryne (Duren).
He, too, had a blazing fastball and sometimes questionable control and the batters feared him.
I hope this one can strike similar fear into the hearts of hitters.

A ho-hum acquisition with upside, along the lines of Phil Maton, though I like Stanek more as he's been solid in the past. Notable for being one of the big "openers" when the opener fad was at its height. Look at 2018: 59 G, 29 GS, 66 1/3 innings. Crazy!

Unlike Maton, Stanek has shown flashes of brilliance. 2022: 1.15 ERA, 333 ERA+ in 59 G. Could be this year's Tyler Clippard (before Clippard fell apart).

Maton and Stanek are bros. He described Maton as one of his offseason workout partners. Bader is other buddy on the Mets.
