Senga Injury
Senga Injury
As per Mendoza - a lower calf strain that makes him "pretty much done for the rest of the year"

Joe Schultz.
At least the trading deadline hasn't passed, but they may now have to dip into the prospect pool to get a frontline starter back.

How do you say 'shitfuck' in Japanese?
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.

Not sure, but my Japanese friend in the Army told me that "Ai ick-a-TAI" means "eat shit" so I'd bet its is something close to that. (That may be off a bit, since it has been 60 years since he told me)

Re: Senga Injury
Look at the silver lining, the 5-1/3 innings he pitched this season were pretty darn good.

Re: Senga Injury
Senga would have earned an opt-out of his contract after 2025 had he pitched 400 innings in 2023-2035 combined. Not going to happen now if he’s out for the year.

Re: Senga Injury
So instead of opting out of the '26 season he winds up 'hopping' out of the '24 season.
And instead of throwing a ghost forkball he becomes a ghost pitcher.

I hope I can remember that for another 60 years.

Re: Senga Injury
I'm surprised no one's blaming this on Mendoza (I'm not) for leaving Senga in to pitch the 6th after not having pitched in a major league game in almost a year. Mendoza gets blamed every single time a pitcher gives up a run, either for leaving him in the game, or for taking him out of the game.

Womp womp.
One-year wonder.
Should have expected it.

Re: Senga Injury
Senga would not be “opting out of the ‘26 season.” He is signed through 2027.
He would earn the right to become a free agent after 2025 if he pitches 400 innings in 2023-25 (highly unlikely now, as discussed).
Separately (and not applicable at this time), the Mets obtain a team option for 2028 if Senga has Tommy John surgery or is on the injured list for 130+ days with a right elbow injury.
Re: Senga Injury
Weird thread. I think we're all processing in real time.

Don't ignore leg day during rehab, apparently.
