With Bader and Taylor starting together today, if there's a need for a pinch-runner, Nimmo is about the only candidate.

And as Alonso strikes out for the second out, it looks like a pinch-runner won't be needed this inning.

Maybe he's playing hurt. Maybe he hasn't fully recovered from the injury that sidelined him for more than a month earlier this season. Maybe he's now well enough to play but that the injury is still hindering him.

I dunno.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking
Didn't look so hurt on that swing.

Severino's shutout. Alvarez's walk-off.

This team is beginning to really feel like a playoff team. It's creating moments. The ennui is fading away, there is more excitement now. What a great ending.

Last HR July 26th
Previous HR June 26th
I predict he'll break out a week from today (cuz, y'know, it's the 19th today)

Alvarez's reaction to his home run was that of a guy who's playing for something. Wow, I'm starting to believe!

Gary asked if they'd give Alvarez the green light on 3-0. Both answered 'No' immediately and emphatically.
And I kind of agreed.

Inevitably, some writer is going to say he broke the rules of baseball etiquette by swinging on 3-0. Dominguez lollipopped it in there to try and get a strike and Alvarez took advantage, which, inevitably, someone will wave their finger at.

I doubt it.
Swinging while you're ahead by multiple runs late in a game on 3-0 is more in the breaching etiquette vein.
But most of that stuff has gone the way of the dodo bird in recent years and in tie games in the 9th inning there's no such thing.

I don't think there is any rule of baseball anywhere, written or unwritten, that says you can't swing 3-0 in a tie game in the ninth.

Peterson is also making a believer out of me. Even when he was solid in 2022, he was wishy-washy. But he has been excellent this year. Maybe he really is turning the corner and living up to his first round pedigree. He could be a meaningful piece in the rotation next year.

As Gary mentioned several times last night re: Peterson, the WHIP (1.36) and the ERA (3.00) don't exactly match up so you wonder if he's being a wee bit fortunate. But the longer it continues the more you start to think that maybe he has a knack for it.

Image can you really not paste pictures here either? yikes.

Peterson's rankings are poor. He's got a good sinker, but they hit it hard. He's been lucky in that most of the ones they hit hard are good sinkers, into the ground, but he elevates any of those even a little and he's gonna get crushed. He also has a poor K%.

Yes, you can paste images here. What are you trying to paste?

And what does "either" refer to? Is there anything else we can help you with?

There is no etiquette against 3-0 swings - if he broke etiquette, it was by admiring his shot for so long before starting his trip around the bases. They used to bean guys for that. I don't think too many players care anymore
