Paul Blackburn arrived to take Tylor Megill's gig. He initially sputtered but then quickly ran off a couple of really good starts, before conking out badly in his last outing and hitting the injured list.
Megill reclaimed his spot and hadn't really nailed it down, and we were told Blackburn would be back. Back he was supposed to be tonight, but alas he was not. Megill got to go one more time, and ... well, if he didn't pitch his way into your heart this evening, you may not have one. So where do you go from here? Who is your first choice to be your fifth choice?
"Somebody else" is not an option. Also, please note, that the situation being what it is, the wrong choice could easily cost you all your post-season hopes and the glory therein.

Re: Fifth Starter
Point is kinda moot if Blackburn's not ready, whatever 'ready' means.
Megill always seems to be on the edge of breaking out but then can't get out of the second inning. Hobson's choice.

Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.
