Re: Guess that Met
Not sure where you are with this but that picture for 1. is Joe DePastino
Re: Guess that Met
Welcome aboard! We're a bit past DePastino, however your participation in this fun and exciting thread is encouraged.
To respond to Hot Corner, Mike Marshall is correct! A new question has been added, with hints for the rest.
1. From the back of a baseball card: "This player's .995 fldg. pct. is an all-time career OF record." (Well, it was when the card came out). Who am I?
Hint: Traded by the Colorado Rockies with Chuck McElroy to the New York Mets for Tom Johnson (minors), Rigo Beltrán and Brian McRae. Spent majority of his career with the Brewers. Played in majors from 1988 to 2001. Played for Mets from 1999 to 2001.
Hint: Was murdered.
2. The MLB record for most total bases in a game is held by someone who once played for the Mets. Who is he?
Hint: Jewish outfielder who made his name with the Blue Jays and Dodgers. Played for the Mets in 2006 and 2007 to wrap up his career. Finished his career with over 300 homers and 2,000+ hits. Once hit four homers in a game. Had three 40+ homer seasons.
3. I led the league in saves with the Cardinals
And met a milestone with New York
But my first try with the team, they said
"I think he's done, hand me a fork."
It seems like I got the last laugh, though
I stuck it to those who claimed I was through
I forged a long career with Saint Louis,
Oakland, the Rays, and other teams, too
Who am I?
Hint: Former top prospect traded for the legendary Billy Taylor. Part of Generation K.
4. What Mets team finished with a winning record but didn't have a single batter with 100+ hits?
Hint: It was a strike-shortened year in the 1970s.
5. Astoundingly, only one player has drawn 100+ walks in a season with the Mets. Who was it?

All five are correct! Well done. New questions have been added.

3. From the back of a baseball card: "From May 9 to September 5 last year, this player simply couldn't be touched.
