You’ve been there too?
We passed on burgers because we’re having them for dinner!
I practically live in Loganton. It's like my second home.

Just kidding. We drove to Chicago many years ago and on the way, stopped at that diner. It was totally spontaneous and not part of the plan. Someone had to go to the bathroom and couldn't hold it in any longer and so there we ended up. But we enjoyed the place so much that we made it a point to stop there on the way back.

Well I was going to call BS on this :)
I am amazed that you two have been to the Starlite!
I have to admit it’s in a pretty desolate part of I80 so I guess it’s not too surprising!

Glad you fellows enjoyed it!

Branch Rickey also counts as an MLB baseball player who had an unrelated MLB baseball player named after him.

I'll also submit ... Urban.

On second thought, nicknames should be banned. It's kinda like cheating.

Yeah it originally was conceived as guys with normal names who made them singular vs. guys with unusual first names and that's what made them stand out

Well, by the time a high-concept thread like this one gets to its fifth page, thing are just about guaranteed to have gone at least a bit astray.

Barry.
Agreed. But Dice-K Is just a phonetic representation of the equally exclusive Daisuke.

But I accept nicknames that were so insinuated and ubiquitously applied that they made it onto the front of the baseball card — Casey, Catfish, Oil Can, and the like.

Interestingly, as ubiquitous as the name Vinegar Bend was, I'm not sure it ever made it onto the front of a contemporary card.

His baseball cards do seem to say "Wilmer", but I see many cases where he signed autographs as "Vinegar Bend". And one where he signed it as "David"

I dunno about Barry. I kind of cycle through Larkin, Zito, and Bonnell on my way to Bonds.

Lyons, too, for some stupid reason.

Barry is interesting because he's not "Bonds" either. He's "Barry Bonds"

I don't know what it is that gets a guy a 1-name. You'd think the only MLB player ever named Bryce would be widely known as "Bryce" but he's definitely "Harper."
