Well the rain made us disgusted
And the game hardly stood a chance
But in the weather men we trusted
Which made Edgy wanna wear his red pants

Or something like that.

I'm in the back middle there next to KC.
And is that our photographer friend on the other side of me?
And Jimmy Hoffa didn't want anyone to know he was there (for obvious reasons) so he's the guy behind the tree.

Wally Joyner had a terrific rookie season while looking like he was about 15 years old.
Then, within a few years, he was seemingly always injured and totally bald.

Right, the guy next to you is DGW. I believe Bubba and JCL are in the back too.
KB is popping over the shoulders in the back row. Not sure who tall guy is, it's
not Diamond Dad. I'm pretty sure I've not had that much of a beard since then...

Yep, that's me wearing the Binghamton Mets Hat. Mrs. DGW is holding littlest DGW who has long since graduated college and has been working as a photographer for a company that holds dance competitions all over the country. Even worse is our oldest (in the blue with pink cuffs) who is now 30, and a vet tech in S.C. I'm guessing this is 2002?

Koufax, whose career ended before GTS's began and as Gibson's was just starting to crank up, is the lone survivor in that shot.
Turned 87 a few weeks back (and can probably still bring it).

paper (remember those?) that the final piece of The Ol' Girl was going down
that Monday so we took a ride out for a final farewell.

Image
Me and Lefty Jr were there that day too. Sunday, January 31st, 2009. It was cold as hell but there was a nice crowd considering.

Jr decided to clamber on top of a debris pile and start singing 'Meet the Mets' and the crowd joined in. A photographer from the Times was there and took this pic. The concerned-looking guy in the back right with the wool cap is yours truly. I was afraid he was going to faceplant into the parking lot. But he didn't.

The photographer said, "If we don't use the picture in the paper I'll e-mail it to you." And sure enough, he did. The next day there was a nice little article in the Times about the farewell, and there were the two of us on the debris pile, only this time viewed from behind with the last bits of the stadium still standing. Still have the clipping.

Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.

That's cool. I didn't see any crowds late morning, but I didn't do a full 360°
of the wreckage. Thanks for the date confirmation and the NYT link.

Did I lend my copy of Dollar Sign on the Muscle to anyone here? if so, please give
it back! IIrc there is a copy of Straw's scouting report while attending Crenshaw
High in it that I can picture but can't find my book.

I've seen the scouting report but I recall it from another book and not that one. I'll check in a bit.
