That is awesome, great for the Duque. It's remarkable that in 2023, there could be that much talent that is somehow "undiscovered". Stuff like this reminds me of the World Cup. A dude somehow no one knows from a small country has a great appearance and is signed by Chelsea for €80 a half an hour later.

I plan on watching tonight vs. Columbia at 7 pm ET. I'll probably
'pause' the first twenty minutes to be on delay and fast forward
through the commercials for awhile.

How much Zeposia and Extra can one sit through in one WBC?

Yeah, the USA/Colombia game is at 10 EDT
But at 7 is a D.R. vs P.R. win or go home* match. That's a fun rivalry and a lotta ML stars game even if there were less on the line.

* or, y'know, back to S.T.

We'll see how they score it but, Lindor with an inside-the-park-er.

Anyway, it was exciting. I will admit that when he turned on the jets
my first thought was, "don't pop a hammy here for this, brother..."

They all went blond together. There's a team rallying around their captain.

Oh Jesus, Edwin Diaz just got hurt (looks like pretty damn seriously) during the post-game (!!) celebration. He’s getting carried off the field. Lindor looks crushed.

F these exhibitions. Remove Pete, Jeff, and Adam from the USA roster immediately. F the WBC.
Pete and Jeff aren't even playing tonight. There is no purpose for them being there instead of with the Mets.

I hear you, but spring training games are exhibitions, too, and not without their own injuries, bizarre as this one was.

All I was thinking was, ‘celebrate gently!’

It didn’t look like they were going too hard on the jubilation, either.

Fucking hell, man.

Well, maybe Steve Cohen will get behind moving it to November.

So, Ottavino is the number-two guy out of the pen?

My mistake: Pete is playing tonight. He's the DH.

Yabbut...no one is celebrating like this after a meaningless ST game.

it's rather ironic that a mets player was injured in a fairly tame post-game celebration, what with our recent history of having a pack of wild dogs chase down a game-winning player and literally rip the jersey off his back. but, ho noes, they jumped around in a circle in celebration of a big emotional victory representing their country. the horror.

Yes, you can be hurt playing baseball if you're wearing a Mets uniform or a WBC uniform. You can get hurt when being chased by a wild boar or in a Miami taxi. The difference is that these are Mets employees who were acting for another entity outside of the Mets' control with a different goal than the Mets have. Maybe Raley would have had that injury at PSL or maybe he was throwing just a little bit harder to impress his new coaches. Maybe Quintana was "amped up" and trying too hard for March. However, Diaz definitely would not have been injured in a post-game celebration of a spring training game. Pete is now slumping, Jeff isn't playing and neither is properly getting ready for the season. Screw the WBC.

I thought the Quintana lesion was an organic malady and a non-baseball thing entirely.
