And joining Ritter and Voit will be starting pitcher Mike Vasil, their highest rated minor league pitcher.(and my adoptee)

Mauricio has a bone bruise. His MRI revealed nothing worse. So he's day-to-day (yeah, I know).

Back to back weeks on the road means I have to wait two more weeks before I can catch another game here in town

Mauricio played his first game in left field yesterday.
He made an error and hit two home runs.

I never noticed this prior to having minor league games on my MLB.tv package, but it seems that there are Zero minor league games scheduled on Mondays.

It's one of those Covid-Era adjustments that stuck. They switched from the three-game series model to a six-game standard, to cut down on travel and other opportunities for exposure and stuff. I'm not sure how effective it was, but I'm sure the accountants appreciated cutting the travel in half, so now most series run from Tuesday–Saturday.

Vientos is back in the swing of things in AAA...

Last night:
Mauricio played Left field, 2 walks, 1 run scored;
Vientos played first base, 1 Home Run (14th), 2 RBI, 2 Runs scored, 1 walk
Voit DH, 1 HR (4), 1 RBI, 2 Runs scored, 1 walk

unfortunately pitching prospect (recently moved up to AAA) struggled again with his control walking 3 in less than 4 complete innings...Vasil had great control until his undisclosed injury in late May, and has struggled since his return.
2 walks with 27 strikeouts in April;
4 walks with 21 strikeouts in May;
7 walks with 12 strikeouts in June;

Took in last night's game under hazy skies but pleasant temps and watch the home team get stomped 7-0 by Scranton Wilkes Barre. This being the AAA MFY affiliate the ballpark was busier than usual and also more obnoxious. We made the best of it.

On our way out I said hello to GM Jason Smorol, whom I know from repeated trips to the ballpark and my daughter's recognition there in 2021 for her Girl Scout award. He gave me a high five and asked me if I had a good time and I told him I'd be happier once all the mouth breathing Yankee fans went back to their caves. He agreed whole heartedly.

Nate Lavender, a 2021 draftee out of the U of Illinois has been pitching great for Syracuse and we may see him as soon as this year.
Last night, the lefty struck out 5 in 2 2/3 IP.
This year he's 3-2 2.57 with 57K in 35 IP. His WHIP is 1.14.

Luke Voit has homered in six straight games.

If someone decides to trade for Tomasino Pham, Voit could be our new righthanded DH.

He's been mashing it good this year for the Baby Mets.

Finally they are home this week. I hope to attend Thursday with the entire family and Friday solo or with just Fgirl and Wife & Fboy are playing volleyball

Voit's streak ended with a one-for-one day, as Lehigh Valley pitchers walked him three times rather than give him a chance to keep swinging his stick.

Soaking up some quality MiLB action tonight as the baby Mets emulate their major league counterparts, down 12-5 in the 7th.

Down 8-5 with two out in the ninth this afternoon, third baseman Nick Meyer (he's usually a catcher) cracked a three-run homer to tie it all up, and the Mets beat the WooSox in the 10th with the clown car action.

The game represented Justin Jarvis' AAA debut, and while five runs (three earned) in three innings is inauspicious, the cause was served. Tomás Nido went 4-for-5, raising his batting average to .313 and his OPS to .844.

And a leadoff single in the ninth ends it.
