All correct! A clean sweep! Well done. Five new questions have been added.

1. Which switch hitter, a former Met, was the first to collect 100 or more hits from each side of the plate in the same season?

2. Which future Met did Roger Maris hit his 61st home run off of in 1961?

3. Who am I?

Image

4. I'm a member of a fairly rare group
And you might see my name in some alphabet soup
Actually, I'm on more than one short list
Here's a couple you might've missed

Before New York brought me forth
I was born up there in the Great White North
And perhaps this'll help you guess my name
I appeared in just a single game

And here's one more that I hope and pray
Doesn't totally give the answer away
At least it'll surely help you guess better—
My surname begins with a unique letter

Who am I?

5. Who am I?

All are correct, except the first one, well done! I'll leave that one as I never provided any hints. Four new questions have been added.

1. Which switch hitter, a former Met, was the first to collect 100 or more hits from each side of the plate in the same season?

Hint: Played in MLB from 1975 to 1991, spending 1991 with New York. Hit .228 in 80 games with them. The Mets traded Tim Teufel to get him.

2. From the back of a baseball card: "With all the looks and mannerisms of Dwight Gooden, this player was put into the starting rotation as a replacement for the injured 'Doc.' He notched his first M.L. win in his second start, a 6-1 decision over the Houston Astros, when he held them to seven hits and one earned run in seven innings." Who am I?

3. Who am I?

Image

4. From the back of a baseball card: "Versatile multi-position utility man. Excellent stolen base ratio in 1989." Who am I? (Good luck).

5. From 1980 to 1988, the game-winning RBI was an official statistic. Which former Met holds the major league career record in that category?

Templeton, Hundley and Hernandez are correct! Three new questions have been added.

Hint: Might be most well-known for a long losing streak. He died relatively Young.

2. From the back of a baseball card: "Versatile multi-position utility man. Excellent stolen base ratio in 1989." Who am I? (Good luck).

Hint: Played for the Mets from 1987 to 1991. Traded by the New York Mets with Gregg Jefferies and Kevin McReynolds to the Kansas City Royals for Bill Pecota and Bret Saberhagen. Stole 16 bases for NY in 1990. Played in the majors until 1995.

3. Which one-time Met holds the all-time career record for runs scored?

4. I pitched for the Mets
And one year did pretty great
As my ERA was low
A tidy 1.88

But that season was stunted
Held to just four starts
The next campaign was longer
And I sort of fell apart

Sasser, Henderson, Miller and Young are all correct! Well done. Four new questions have been added, with a hint for the other one.

1. I pitched for the Mets
And one year did pretty great
As my ERA was low
A tidy 1.88

But that season was stunted
Held to just four starts
The next campaign was longer
And I sort of fell apart

Who am I?

Hint: You might know him as someone who had some success with the Padres. He later became a general manager. Another player, a non-pitcher, with the same name also played for the Mets.

2. From the back of a baseball card: "This player was the NL Cy Young Award winner in '85 with the most wins in the majors and the lowest ERA in the NL since '68. In '84, he was named NL Rookie of the Year. Milwaukee infielder Gary Sheffield is his nephew." Who am I?

3. Who am I?

4. From the back of a baseball card: "This player's performance in '93 was more in line with what the Mets envisioned when they signed the slugger as a free agent prior to the 1992 season. His 34 home runs and .522 slugging percentage both represented career highs." Who am I?

1. Who am I?

Image

Hint: 1997 All-Star. Pitched for the Mets from 1993 to 2000. Went 74-56 in a Mets uniform. Later pitched for the Padres, leading the league in losses in 2001.

2. From the back of a baseball card: "This player's performance in '93 was more in line with what the Mets envisioned when they signed the slugger as a free agent prior to the 1992 season. His 34 home runs and .522 slugging percentage both represented career highs." Who am I?

Hint: The Mets are still paying him to this day.

3. Who holds the New York Mets season record for runs scored?

4. Who held the New York Mets season record for runs scored before the current record-holder set the record?

5. One of the most recent players to hit four home runs in four straight at-bats in a single game played for the Mets at one point. Who was that player?

I'm going to cancel this question, as the trivia book I got it from is wrong. "Who was the first National League first baseman, a former Met, to commit no errors in a season while playing at least 150 games?" The book said it was Keith Hernandez, but the correct answer is Steve Garvey.

#3 - Carlos Beltran
#4 - I think was Jose Reyes
#5 - Carlos Delgado and J,D. Martinez accomplished the feat prior to joining the Mets. Willie Mays also hit 4 in a game long before joining the Mets, but I don't know if they were in successive at bats or not.

I gained one for Dwight Gooden, then lost the tally in your last count. I went from 18 to 19 then back to 18 correct.

Beltran is correct, but Reyes is incorrect. The correct answer was a pretty famous Met who started at third, then moved to second, and was one of the best infields of all-time. For #5, J.D. is the new best answer, however when the question was first asked elsewhere prior to the start of the 2024 season, the correct answer was Carlos Delgado (and Mike Cameron would've also worked).

I'll answer these two, as they've had hints added, but still went unanswered:

1. Who am I?

Image

Bobby J. Jones

2. From the back of a baseball card: "This player's performance in '93 was more in line with what the Mets envisioned when they signed the slugger as a free agent prior to the 1992 season. His 34 home runs and .522 slugging percentage both represented career highs." Who am I?

Bobby Bonilla

New questions, with a hint for the other one:

1. Who held the New York Mets season record for runs scored before the current record-holder, Carlos Beltran, set the record?

Hint: Second baseman and third baseman who played for NY from 1995 to 2002. Hit .292 with 120 home runs with the club. Was an All-Star in 2000 and a Silver Slugger in 1999. Last played in the majors in 2006.

2. How many times have the Mets won 100+ games in a season?

3. Which former Met holds the Oakland Athletics career record for doubles? Consider only those who played for the Athletics when they were in Oakland.

4. Good luck with this one. Who am I?

Alfonzo, Henderson & 4 100 win seasons are correct! New questions have been added, with hints for the rest. Welcome to the tally, ashie62!

1. Good luck with this one. Who am I?

Image

Hint: Pitched for the Mets from 1984 to 1994, winning 157 games. Was the 1985 Cy Young winner.

2. From the back of a baseball card: "He earned his 1st major league win: 5-12-87. Recorded 1st major league shutout: 5-3-88." Who am I?

Hint: Pitched for the Mets from 1987 to 1992 and again in 2003, winning 81 games. Was an All-Star twice with them. Threw a perfect game with the Yankees.

3. Who was the first Met to score 100 or more runs a season?

4. It was a four-team trade that set me free
Involving Bert and Milner and even Tom Grieve
And trading me away was also a cinch
In return, I netted Ed Lynch

Who am I?

5. Two players are tied for fewest errors by a National League shortstop in a season, minimum 150 games played. For a short while, a Met held this record by himself. Who was it? (Omar Vizquel tied it in 2006).

Duh! #1 is Dwight Gooden, of course. My original thought was that it sure looked like Gooden, but the "Good Luck" remark fooled me into thinking it was someone obscure.

#2 is David Cone. Yankee perfect game gave it away.

Gooden and Cone are correct! The "good luck" was in reference to the fact that it was a pretty bad image. Two new questions have been added, with hints for the rest.

1. Who was the first Met to score 100 or more runs a season?

Hint: Outfielder scored 107 runs for the Mets in 1970. Played for the Mets from 1968 to 1972. Traded by the Chicago White Sox with Al Weis to the New York Mets for Buddy Booker, Tommy Davis, Jack Fisher and Billy Wynne. Traded by the New York Mets to the Houston Astros for Rich Chiles and Buddy Harris. Passed away in 2001.

2. It was a four-team trade that set me free
Involving Bert and Milner and even Tom Grieve
And trading me away was also a cinch
In return, I netted Ed Lynch

Who am I?

Hint: Puerto Rican first baseman played for the Mets in 1978 and 1979. Played for nine MLB teams total. Played in 159 games for NY in 1978, hitting 17 home runs with 96 RBI.

3. Two players are tied for fewest errors by a National League shortstop in a season, minimum 150 games played. For a short while, a Met held this record by himself. Who was it? (Omar Vizquel tied it in 2006).

Hint: Cuba-born no-hit shortstop that later went to the Devil Rays. Known for stellar defense, teaming up with Alfonzo to form one of the best combos of the late '90s and early '00s.

4. Who is the only batter to lead his league in HBP seven years in a row? He was once a Met, but he never actually did it as a Met.

5. Who am I?

#4 - Ron Hunt - He might as well have worn a target on his back when he stepped in the batters box.

#3 - The additional hint makes me think it is Rey Ordonez

4. From the back of a baseball card: "Imagine being undefeated for four years! This player knows the feeling, going 12-0 from June 6, 1996 to May 24, 2000. He went 2-0 ('96) and 1-0 ('97) for Boston, then 8-0 with the Mets in '99. This player extended his streak to 12 last April 16, but it ended on May 24 when his buddy, San Diego's Bret Boone, beat him with a homer." Who am I?

5. From the back of a baseball card: "This player's .995 fldg. pct. is an all-time career OF record." (Well, it was when the card came out). Who am I?

All correct, except Butler, who was a good guess. The correct answer also spent quite a few with the Brewers and played for the Mets 1999 to 2001. Four new questions have been added with a hint for the other one.

1. From the back of a baseball card: "This player's .995 fldg. pct. is an all-time career OF record." (Well, it was when the card came out). Who am I?

Hint: Traded by the Colorado Rockies with Chuck McElroy to the New York Mets for Tom Johnson (minors), Rigo Beltrán and Brian McRae. Spent majority of his career with the Brewers. Played in majors from 1988 to 2001. Played for Mets from 1999 to 2001.

2. The MLB record for most total bases in a game is held by someone who once played for the Mets. Who is he?

3. Which pitcher, a one-time Met, holds the major league record for most innings in relief in a single season?

4. I led the league in saves with the Cardinals
And met a milestone with New York
But my first try with the team, they said
"I think he's done, hand me a fork."

It seems like I got the last laugh, though
I stuck it to those who claimed I was through
I forged a long career with Saint Louis,
Oakland, the Rays, and other teams, too

Who am I?

#3 has to be Mike Marshall with the Dodgers. Walter Alston used him so often (and for extended innings) that he threw more innings in relief than many starters now throw in a season. Also won the Cy Young in his record setting season.
