Joey Lucchesi deserves his own thread.

So where does Joey go from here? Is it safe to say he's already vaulted over Peterson, Megill, and Butto on the depth charts? What about Carrasco? Thoughts?

He earned another start for sure. But let's see how he does vs. a lineup that doesn't have Ruf hitting No. 3.

I liked him firrst time around, he just got hurt is all.

Well, it's April and game by game and all that jazz.

This morning I'm in a Lucchesi>Carrasco mood and I'm gonna enjoy the rays...

"January 19, 2021 Pittsburgh Pirates Traded RHP Joe Musgrove to San Diego Padres; New York Mets Traded C Endy Rodriguez to Pittsburgh Pirates; San Diego Padres Traded LHP Joey Lucchesi to New York Mets and San Diego Padres Traded RHP David Bednar, CF Hudson Head, RHP Drake Fellows and LHP Omar Cruz to Pittsburgh Pirates."

What a strange part we got to play in that trade.

Before the thumbs-down fiasco, the 2021 Mets celebrated extra-base hits by making churve grip signs with their hands.

The players clearly felt his stuff was worth getting excited about and rallying behind, and the marketers encouraged the fans to do the same.

The problem is that the gesture isn't unique to the churve grip, and while it the moment moved on as it became clear that Lucchesi wasn't going to be part of that team going forward, I suspect management might have encouraged both the players and marketing department to quietly sunset the digital gesture.

Definitely a promising start. I would say it was the Mets best start of the season. He has earned a shot at additional starts.
