I'm most curious to see what happens with Vogelbach. I, for one, would let him go.

I've seen rumors that Drew Smith might be traded before the deadline hits.

Keep the position players; put the pitchers on a slow boat to China

Peterson is an interesting case. He is on the IL. I'm not sure if you can non-tender a player on the IL because he would lose his medical benefits (in his case rehab from surgery). I would think the MLBPA would be against that policy.
Can a team do that under the current bargaining agreement?

There's no injured list in the off-season. Peterson is, by the rules, at the end of his contract and hoping for a new one.

So he’s on his own for doctor bills?

Ouch

You know I never thought of that. Do the players get insured by the team or by the union?

Good.
I think Joey and smith will be key parts of the staff next year.

Guillorme and Vogelbach really fell into disuse the last month of the season.

Really, Vogelbach did. Guillorme spent much of the second half hurt, with the Mets in no hurry to get him back on the field. When he finally came back, he appeared in one game and sat for another 10 days.

He'll probably have a contract with somebody before the week is out.

From what I heard (secret sources) your wife's testimony was the reason they released him.

It's like the world didn't even know it needed a cross between Lucas Duda and Chris Farley, and there this guy was.

Among those non-tendered there are a few with Metly pedigree: Dom Smith, Thomas Szapucki, and--more recently if only tangentially, Penn Murfee

Luis Guillorme, Sr. certainly seems to think his son is off to other horizons.

Also doesn't appear to be much of a Mickey Callaway fan.
