Starting this week with a quick note from the short first week.
As discussed briefly during one of our games, the SFG opener this year extended their
streak of using a different starting LF'er to a remarkable 18 straight seasons!

Ya wanna know who they are?
Of course you do, especially as how four of them have NYM connections.
Some of these names might also come in handy during a future I.G. game

2007 - Barry Bonds
2008 - Dave Roberts
2009 - Fred Lewis
2010 - Mark DeRosa
2011 - Pat Burrell
2012 - Aubrey Huff
2013 - Andres Torres
2014 - Mike Morse
2015 - Nori Aoki
2016 - Angel Pagan
2017 - Jarrett Parker
2018 - Hunter Pence
2019 - Connor Joe
2020 - Alex Dickerson
2021 - Austin Slater
2022 - Joc Pederson
2023 - Blake Sabol
2024 - Michael Conforto

Whoops, I put this one in the wrong forum so if someone could move it when you get around to it that would help to make me look less stupid

Oh sure, NOW Houston jumps out to a 10-0 lead (v TOR) after losing four straight to the MFYs
AND ... they've got a no-hitter heading to the 9th ... and a single pitcher no-no no less (Ronel Blanco) [shrug]

And Houston is allowing Blanco to pitch the 9th (90 pitches to start the inning) even though he's never gone past 6
8th start of his career. Only Toronto baserunner was a walk to lead off the 1st!!

One out ... two outs (nice play at 1st: 3-1 in your scorecard)
George Springer trying to play spoiler ... walks for a second time in the game
Baby Vlad at bat ... 2-1 count

Pirates match the Yankees as the only two 5–0 teams out there. Milwaukee remains at 3–0.

Even worse than Nimmo & Lindor, Bryce Harper was hitless in 13 ABs thru his first four games.
Well he just 'regressed to the mean' to the tune of three HRs and six RBI (2 solos and a GS)
8-1 Phils in the 7th

ChiSox up 2-1 on the visiting Braves after 7, but given the 8th & 9th are coming up I'm expecting an Atlanta win by at least two touchdowns.
And to that end, after securing the first out the Sox walk the next two hitters both on 3-2 count and both looked like bad calls.
Then ... to make it worse, the second walk would have been a K/CS had the second 3-2 been called correctly.
And the new pitcher gives up a third 3-2 walk in a row although at least this one was legit.

... but an Austin Riley GiDP ends the inning!!!!

A solo HR by Ozuna in the 9th (his second of the game) gets the Braves to within 3-2,
but Td'A pops out with two on to end the game and give the ChiSox their first win of the season.

11th inning in Phoenix.
Each team scored twice in the 10th, Yanx scored twice again in the 11th
In bottom 11 the Snakes plate one but because they had to put their DH in the game an inning earlier due
to an injury, had the pitcher's spot coming up in the lineup. So the Yanx IW'd the guy in front of him despite
it being runners on 1st and 2nd so loaded the bases but got a reliever swinging the bat.
Predictably, he K'd (and on a lousy call too - 3 inches outside at least). Yanx win ... Yanx win!

Max Fried facing 11 batters in the top of the 1st tonight vs the DBacks while yielding 6 ER on 7 Hits plus a BB
probably wasn't what the Braves wanted to see on the heels of Spencer Strider being diagnosed with an elbow
ligament tear* after he left yesterday's game after just 4 IP [5 ER, 7 H, 3 BB]

* maybe Not requiring TJS but that remains to be seen

But does any of this actually matter?

Yesterday the Braves, with Spencer Strider blowing up, were down 3-0 then later 5-2 , but eventually won 6-5
Tonight they were down 8-0 and 8-5 but are now up 9-8 (because, of course they are) as ARZ tries to pull one out.

And the Braves win for the second game in a row despite getting shitty starting pitching for the second night.
THIS is the biggest difference in the two teams.

Bieber and Strider aren’t even Mets.

Weird how this keeps happening even as pitchers pitch less and less.
