What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Joey Wendle

Post by Edgy MD » Wed Apr 17, 2024 5:54 pm

Two seasons in a row of declining — and ultimately sub-replacement — offense has sent me from the time of my career where I'm struggling to remain a starter with Team A, into the part where I'm hoping to be a useful sub for Team B. I can continue to play myself out of the MLB picture, or maybe I can Desi Relaford myself back into relevance.

I can Brandon Drury myself back upon baseball.

I'm Joey Wendle, and despite an ugly flubble in the opening series, my ticket is my glove. But hopefully there are enough bat skills that, if the Mets pick their spots wisely, I can be a part of something special. I say "hopefully" because who knows quite the way the future will unfold. But you are wise and clever, so perhaps you have some clue.

.240 - 6-26 as a super sub in 83 G.

I think he's moved ahead of Short, or at least even. If the roster stays blessedly healthy, something's gonna have to give if and when JD Martinez is ready. With Vientos pushing as well, I really don't know.

I predict an even .200 in 150 at-bats.

Joey sat the entire Tampa Bay series, despite being the only reserve infielder, despite each game staying close into the late innings with benches being heavily deployed.
