That'll be half a year I'm guessing.

For now they're saying six to eight weeks, but that sounds pretty optimistic.

I know Tomas Nido can't hit his weight as an 11 year old but I feel like Omar Narvaez is as good as a #2 catcher as the Mets could hope to have.

I wouldn't sneeze at JD Martinez, but the player he's lined up to take most of his plate appearances from is our current OPS leader.

I'm curious if Brett Baty gets tomorrow's start at third after finishing the game today.

Alvarez plays so so hard that sometimes he is all ankles elbows and thumbs

I'm looking for JD Martinez to be a contributor not a savior

I believe they had targeted Baty for Monday at SF but he looked healthy yesterday

Six to eight weeks, they say, but my experience is telling me, today, that I should be very happy if he's back by the All-Star break.

Isn't it Alvarez saying 6 to 8 weeks though?

The swing might be ok, but I'm not sure if he will be able to take the pounding on his catching hand.
He might have to DH for a while after he returns.

so far he's 1-1 with a 3 run homer. He also has a walk. Both positive signs.

As per Metsmerized.com:
Francisco Alvarez’s return to the big leagues will likely be slightly delayed as he is heading to Venezuela for a family matter, MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reported. The catcher, who is in the middle of a rehab assignment, has been out since April with a torn ligament in his thumb and was expected to return to the Mets’ lineup early next week when the team returns from London.
