He came into the game in the 6th inning on May 2, and went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 4 runs batted in in a 7-6 win over the Cubs.

It was, amazingly, his first bench appearance sine 2021, and only the third of his Mets career, but he sure stuck the landing.

Amazing work.

I got to see former award winner Paul Sewald pitch last month at Chase Field. Every D-Back reliever got the whole fired-up entry video and music. Somehow they omitted the Schaefer Award from his highlights, instead opting for lesser moments with his current team.

Looking at those stat lines and trying to figure out how Nimmo got squeezed.

Nimmo may have put up some of his bigger numbers in games where there was more competition for points. It's clear that Nimmo had a better month, but Martinez chose his moments more carefully, with the Schaefer prize in mind. It works kind of like the Electoral College, which we all love so much.
