Next Moves

The Mets have a day and a half extra time to make adjustments before they return home to host giants. It's probably not crazy to think they're going to stick their fingers in the batter a little bit.

But what? I tend to think the list of potential uniform changes will be limited to pitchers, catchers, infielders, outfielders, and coaches, but after that, it's anybody's guess. I already speculated on the teetering status of Adrian Houser, Omar Narváez, and Tyrone Taylor (who has largely been disused, and looks rusty when he is deployed, but probably has value to somebody), and possibly one of the 11 coaches devoted to batting.

Y.n.a.g.a.y.t.y.a.w.y.w./Y.n.a.b.a.y.t.y.a.w.y.l., and all that. Most underperforming guys, of course, aren't as bad as they are playing, but it becomes a matter of how much of how much damage they are allowed to do in trying to get right. Obviously, what can realistically be done at this point is limited, but you are smart, and you can think fo somethign.

There was a report (SNY) that they will be moving Houser (shudder) to the closer role. I hope I was hallucinating when I read that. But a six man rotation with him in it is just as bad. He has to go - somewhere.
Add Iglesias to bring more balance/ flexibility to the roster.
After that, I'll have to think about it.

All 3 of Houser, Narvaez and Taylor are Stearn's guys outta Milwaukee. Taylor seems the safest to me, when he's been good he's been productive. The other two really haven't been good.

Yeah, I've certainly considered their Stearnsian provenance, but that's sort of a key test for an executive, right? The strength to move on from your own initiative?

I salute Taylor, I just know something's gotta give in the roster situation, and Taylor's contract may have some market value.

If Taylor gets the boot maybe they call up Trayce Thompson. He's been raking in Syracuse.

I was going to suggest bringing back Jose Butto. But I think he just pitched the other night.

I'm guessing they do nothing.

I'd rather keep Taylor than Stewart (both last names of characters played by Charlton Heston, by the way). Stewart has options, but he also has the advantage of being left handed.

Am I crazy in thinking something's got to give before the homestand starts?

It's not very scientific, but I feel like managments tend to make moves at such junctures, if only to demonstrate to the fans that they are engaged and proactive.

I think there may be some comings and goings of relief pitchers, but that's pretty much a constant thing anyway.

Maybe I'd send Stewart to Syracuse in exchange for Jose Iglesias. (Or Julio Iglesias, if he's available.) I know it makes us more right-handed and less left-handed, but I think I'm okay with that.

Sandy played transactions like a master DJ, always knowing what beat to put down and when.

I don't care if it was house, techno, dub, or whatever 1000-BPM shit he was throwing down, that guy could spin like a cross-fading monster, and I really miss him.

When he was behind the deck, shit got sick.

What we need is some more smokin' hot Vinny Nittoli action.

Reed Garrett. SRF. DJ Stewart.

They said they were building for 2025 last year, as I recall, so might as well strengthen it even more.

I think I'll buy the Mets next and make myself the GM.

Garrett especially, though. He's not as good as he's been and he's coming down to earth. But he's fun to watch. His WHIP is an astonishingly human 1.192, and that will catch up to his ERA eventually.

This is how bad Garrett's gotten. He was on pace to win 30 games this season and now he's on pace to win only 16.

So much for this thread, huh? Mets are apparently coming home with the same team that got spanked on the road. The only transaction was the Adcockian addition to the 40.
