Post by Frayed Knot » Fri Jul 19, 2024 5:57 pm

Cubs got things started by losing 5-2 to the (4th in WC) DBacks this afternoon.

Other stuff of note:
Phils are starting the second half in Pittsburgh
Reds @ Nats
Padres @ Cleveland
StL @ Atlanta
SFG @ Colorado
Yanx host Tampa
And an early AL West showdown in Seattle as the M's host the 1-game out Astros

As if the four day ASB isn't bad enough, both the Brewers and Twins had last night off too.
They begin their second half with a two game series vs each other today and tomorrow.

StL/ATL, who got rained out last night, split the DH today so the Mets pick up a half game on both.

Philly lost its second straight to Pitt. This after losing two of three to Oakland leading up to the ASG.

Yanx got toasted by the Rays on Saturday so those two are 1 - 1 for the weekend.

Nats have taken two straight from Cincy

Three of our four division rivals lost, and the Yankees got beaten badly.

It's a happy day!

There's a pitcher in the Braves system, a 19 y/o Dominican pitching in the Dominican Summer league. In 2-2/3 innings so far this season Francisco Vicioso has allowed 7 ER on 7 hits thanks largely to 17 Walks and 18 Wild Pitches!! The sad part is that that represents an improvement on last year's record when he was charged with 14 runs (13 earned) on 11 BBs and 17 Wild Pitches!! while recording just one out.
Put 'em together and that's 18 walks and 35 wild pitches in 3 innings.

I'm no scout but I think he needs to work on his control.

Was that one out at least a strikeout?
Who had the nerve to stand in against him to get three strikes?
