Seems like a pointless trade. Why not just keep Jay in the system. A 26-year-old at Double-A isn't too promising. Maybe they like Shook's decent K rate? He has a poor WHIP, though.
I remember when he first came up and was good, then he was bad.

They needed his roster spot, and he was designated for assignment. Trading him gave him more value in return than losing him through waivers.
He made it through his entire Mets tenure without ever hitting anybody with a pitch.
