Oakland at New York, Game 2 (8/14/24)

The A's have the best unis in the game, of that there's no doubt. I used to say the Tigers and Cardinals are better but that's bullshit.

They looked absolutely great out there last night, and I don't mean that Shea Langoliers nearly cycled (he shoulda gone for it).

Good crowd last night that wanted the Mets to do something, may they show up again.

They showed the flood of fans coming in from train a few
times and it caught my TV attention.

Let's hope they do, and that the bats do as well.

There were no fans there yesterday at all. It was an empty stadium! The fans you saw on television were all AI.

Right, all the real fans were at the Del Boca Vista charity
softball event. 10-20-30,000 it's hard to count there were
so many. So many, and never on the news.

Francisco Lindor (S) SS
Brandon Nimmo (L) CF
J.D. Martinez (R) DH
Jesse Winker (L) LF
Pete Alonso (R) 1B
Jeff McNeil (L) 2B
Mark Vientos (R) 3B
Ben Gamel (L) RF

The Diamondbacks and Padres are killing it

A 5-6 or extended game losing streak here could prove fatal

WIN SOME GAMES

The key lime pie in this lineup is J.D. Martinez coming right back after exiting early yesterday following a pitch off of his elbow, along with Alonso being back out there after eating a piece of last night's infield.

The crowd doesn't seem quite so enthusiastic so far, but they perked up after Peterson got that third out — not getting the call on two pitches but still getting a foul tip strikeout on the 3-2 count.

Ron reporting Rusty Staub's opinion that Mark Fidrych had a more incredible rookie season than Gooden.

That's something.

Nice to see Estes get taken deep after getting called out by the booth for being a dick.

Gary and Ronnie making cracks about the Chris Christie/GW Bridge scandal, forgetting perhaps that Christie is now one of their bosses.

Beautiful three-pitch strikeout of Gelof with the tying runs in scoring position.

He's got three walks but he's throwing that fastball with confidence for strikes when he has to.

HUGE bomb by Alonso.

It interrupted the interview with Mike Cameron, and they almost forgot to go back to him.

Bad send gets Gamel pegged at the plate, but it's cool to seem Mike Cameron watch his son make the play.

There were two outs, I had no problem with the send.
You usually want to send everyone.

Peterson at 70 pitches entering the sixth is a pretty good situation, but a leadoff dubble probably wasn't part of the plan.

Peterson seems to be working with a 90-pitch cap.

Ron says Huascar Brazobán has been a steal. Show me, please.
