I'd guess a lot of us sadly qualify for "Senior Sluggers" club where they give you discounts on a ticket package and let you hang out with Jay Horwitz. Today they get to stand on the warning track for the national anthem.

Quintana (6-8, 4.10) opposes RHP Mitch Spence (7-8, 4.33).

Here's another green song to turn up

A blowout for each team in the first two games, and a third game featuring hit-and-miss pitchers going against hit-and-miss lineups.

An interesting showdown, but probably a good chance that the team to score first won't have to do much looking back.

Alonso has his best game in months and he's back in the five hole. Cool. Reward consistent arcs, rather than sudden sparks.

I realize that the top of the first inning is the top of the first inning, but with it 3-2 and two outs with the bases, I feel like that was the whole ballgame right there.

I don't generally like outlines on hat insigniae, and I hate it whenever the Mets do it, but that gold outline around the "A's" looks elegant.

Gelof getting a second shot with the bases loaded and two outs.

Gelof making an early run at the one-game LOB record.

Vientos is the batter that the two-hole needs.

Inspired lineup move by Mendoza.

It's really funny how the Grote/Harrelson patches are set on a base patch that never matches the uniform top.

The switcheroo from the absolutely dreadful Brett Baty to Mark Vientos, MVP-caliber rate-wise, is probably the biggest upgrade in all of baseball this season.

I mean, a close second (at least in terms of Mets-specific contributions) would be the step up in backup catcher production from the anemic Tomas Nido to Luis Torrens.

That's also a nifty upgrade ... but not even close to Vientos for Baty. Take a look at the difference in production between Vientos and Baty on the one hand, and then Torrens and Nido.

Bad tag but looked like the runner missed the plate and the Mets will retain their lead.

I don't really see how the home plate ump who was standing looking
down like two and a half feet from the plate couldn't see he didn't step
on the dish but thankfully overturned....
