Sean Manaea tasked with washing the taste of the A’s finale out of the Mets’ mouth.

The first baseball game I ever went to was on August 16, 1964. The Mets beat the Phillies 12-4. Galen Cisco pitched a complete game and Bobby Klaus had 4 hits -- surely the best game of his career (.208 lifetime average).
In any event, going tonight to commemorate the 60th anniversary of that game. I predict the Mets will win 12-4.

You should reach out to Bobby Klaus and wish him a happy anniversary.
He had maybe a better day a week later, getting three hits including a homer in game two of a double-header. He had five hits on the day.

Also the Queen of Soul and the King of the Delta Blues Singers.
Bela Lugosi, too.

I can think of a baseball team whose momentum could use an August 16 rebirth.

Where did these numbers on the side of the caps come from? Have I failed to notice this on previous Black Fridays?

Not just a 1st inning walk but a leadoff 1st inning walk.
And not just a leadoff walk but an 11-pitch leadoff walk.
I've seen this movie before.

I'm scoring that a double for Nimmo.
Who's the guest in the booth? Is that Blevvy?

I'd test the pitcher for too much stick'um after that throw.

Building off that call at the plate where the HP ump signaled safe even though the runner never touched the plate, this
HP ump Didn't make a safe sign, or sign of any kind, following Nimmo's slide implying that he never touched.
What's going on here?

Hopefully Daniel is honing his skills here so he can land a job next
year as a full-time Washington Nationals broadcaster.

I doubt it'll come up, but it'd be nice if could take a moment and say something gracious about Billy Bean.

A GiDP not turned yesterday cracked open the deluge from which we never recovered.
A smaller deficit here, but we don't hit bullpens lately.

And right as I say that, this guy has thrown two pitches and allowed three runs.
