The Time has Come for a Post-Season IGT, NYM@MIL, 2024-10-01

The New York Mets' relentless quest has taken them from Atlanta to Milwaukee to Atlanta to Milwaukee. Luis Severino and Freddy Peralta — two righthanded Dominicans with very similar stat lines — have a very similar goal.

One of them is bound to be very disappointed.

That's good! It's a tighter version.

There are a dozen high-profile covers of the song. My soul can't be psychedelicized enough!

ESPN has the odds at winning as 64% for Milwaukee. That seems really high considering the pitchers are nearly a wash.

Milwaukee is a division champion. Finished 4 games ahead of the Mets. Beat them 5 of 6 times this season. Has a much, much better bullpen.

But the Mets have momentum. Advantage Mets.

Three of those five losses to the Brewers were in March, when the Mets had a significantly different active roster.

Are those odds for today's game or for the series? The Brewers have home field advantage, are better rested and have their rotation set up better. Momentum is junk science. Still, I say crapshoot.

Haven't they lost 5 4 of the last 6?

Anytime I hear about momentum i harken back to Bobby V and Big Mo going back and forth on the value of momentum, Bobby thought it was nonsense and Big Mo thought otherwise

Well, this past weekend the Mets were desperate to win and Milwaukee had nothing to play for. And the Brewers took two of three. So I'm not crazy optimistic about their chances. But hey, yaneverknow.

Those are the odds for today. I don't know if they post odds for the whole series. And I'm kidding about momentum. I don't think there is such a thing. And in any case, the Mets are coming off a loss.

In any case, I thought the odds were a little jarring. I get that Milwaukee is the better overall team, but the pitching matchup is fairly even, and it's just one game. Anything can happen. 55-45 sure. 64-36. I don't know how they arrive at that.

Saying it again, stylistically the Brewers are a troublesome team for the Mets and looked much better as recently as 3 days ago. That said this is only 3 games--at most-- and anything could happen. If the Mets win I don't want Mike Puma saying he told us so because the Mets handled the Cubs in 2015

I understand why the Brewers are favored, but as we all know, anything can happen between the foul lines, and that's what we're all hoping for this week.

It was a fun season, all in all. May the fun continue deep into October, as it did in 2015.
