The Mets are acquiring OF Jose Siri from the Rays for RP Eric Orze, per Anthony Di Como.
He plays center and has hit .215 in 356 major league games.

“Hey Siri!”
An elite fielder with pop and speed (but strikes out a lot).

Harrison Bader lite. He hits less but makes $9 million less.
Stacking the chips for Soto.

I think such acquisitions would do well to enjoy their own threads.

An elite fielder, but painfully one-dimensional as a hitter. He has some value if used right.

Bader lite is a good description. Bader has a .698 career OPS (.657 in 2024). Siri has a .674 career OPS (.620 in 2024)

Siri is two years younger, makes less ($2.5M in 2025). And is only one year removed from his only good year (.761 OPS, 25 HR in 2023).

Kinda sounds like Tyrone Taylor insurance, and hopefully just a placeholder until Gilbert/Acuna/Jett are ready for the everyday job in CF.

Bats right/throws right, so not really a platoon candidate.

T-Squared is having two surgeries this off-season but is expected to be ready for ST. If he isn’t, Siri will be there. And his salary is small enough to be eaten in June if Gilbert is tearing it up at AAA.
