Mem-Orzes

Eric Orze spent four seasons as a Met farmhand, always right there (he reached AAA for 12 innings in his first summer as a pro), but never quite crossing over, ultimately appearing in two games as a Met and distinguishing himself only by his ineffectiveness.

But surely you have something more nuanced than that to recall! Surely!!

Good stuff, but neither control nor command.

His second appearance allowed him to have a less-than-infinite ERA. So that's something.

Beat two types of cancer in college. Was lauded as the type of high-makeup, high-quality individual they wanted in the organization.

Which is nice, right up until you trade him for a guy who defended Wander Franco.

Very good Triple-A performer.

My UltimateMets.com Fan Memory of him:

"The debut of Orze reminded of a licking the Mets put on a Tigers pitcher named Jay Sborz in his debut about 15 years ago. Pitching in relief of Justin Verlander in 2010, Sborz was tasked with limiting the damage in what was already a bad game for Detroit. Instead, New York scored five runs off Sborz in what would end up being his only big league appearance. I remember watching that game on TV.
Orze left his debut with an infinity ERA; Sborz with a mark of 67.50.

Here's hoping Orze gets another chance or two to make his line a little more respectable. It'd be a bummer for the guy if that was his final tally."
