¿Adónde vas?

Rumored non-Metly destinations for Mets major-league free agents.

Joey Lucchesi: No rumors surround his ultimate destination, but a Joey Lucchesi of the Professional Lacrosse League has signed with the Vancouver Warriors

Sean Manaea: As the Ian Snell deal breaks open the starting pitcher market, the Mets are said to be fending off the Yanks and Orioles, who have been known to be sniffing around Manaea's feet.

José Quintana: A terrific last third of the season was well-timed to raise Q's profile among his lefty starting brethren, and Houston is reported to be coming hard after him.

Luís Severino: The poor Blue Jays are torn. They want to build a team from the ground up, but their competitive division demands constant retooling, and Sevvy along with Alex Bregman are who they have their minds fixed on. Reportedly, anyhow.

Jake Diekman: JD has just hit the market and has yet to scare up any rumors. Know something? Fill us in below!

Matt Gage: The Crane Pool Companion is describing the Matt Gage market so far as "softer than the lighting in a Hallmark romance movie."

Grant Hartwig: Newly liberated by a non-tender, Grant will be spending his Thanksgiving deep in thought.

Phil Maton Hartwig is lucky, as Phil has been on the market for three weeks since the Mets declined his option — despite giving the Mets his best work of the season — and few peeps have been heard. Phil got better each of his three seasons with the Astros, so there may be some reunion talk later in the winter.

Adam Ottavino: While almost never being fully on top of his game with the 2024 Mets, and seeing his role progressively diminish as the season wore on, the oldest Met reliever probably still has a little baseball left in his arm, even as he's looking hard at his career's horizon. He's playing for Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League, and he'll probably get an offer from somebody, but he's also expressed interest in pursuing a managerial career, so we'll see.

Brooks Raley: BR underwent UCL surgery at the end of May, which did some hard damage to the Met relief depth chart, and any team signing him will be in a race to get him back on the field before running out of season. But he got one of those internal brace thingies which may accelerate things or maybe not, but that's five straight Mets with no rumors around them, which kind of makes this thread suck, but such is life with middle relievers.

Drew Smith: Drew is a month behind Brooks in his recovery from UCL surgery. Homegrown and hard-throwing, maybe he's a better bet than Raley to get a rehab contract, but Raley is a lefty and is presumably further along in his recovery. Meanwhile Isabella High School’s Drew Smith captured first place in Alabamas FFA Central District Eliminations of the Safe Tractor Driving Competition on Nov. 13. The eliminations were held in Lafayette, and Smith moves on to compete against the top 12 FFA students at the state finals in June 2025. That strikes me as a long break between the district championship and the state finals, but nobody asked me.

Ryne Stanek: Another middle reliever, another quiet market place.

Alex Young: Being a middle reliever who throws lefty is certainly going to tip the supply:demand ratio in your favor, however, and after only a few days on the market, Alex is already fielding reported inquiries from the Cubs, possibly saving this thread.

Pete Alonso: Like most sluggers, Pete Alonso's phone has been quiet as everybody waits for Juan Soto to fix the market, but that hasn't stopped pundits from speculating. The Yankees, Nats, Astros, Giants, and Mariners have all been used as Alonso column filler, but real news should start appearing in December.

José Iglesias: One of the most replaceable Mets strategically and least replaceable emotionally, José's immediate future, according to almost all reportage, is pointing in the Padre direction, as San Diego continues their ultimate goal of a roster comprised of 26 infielders.

Harrison Bader: Keith Hernandez Award contender Harrison is rumored to be heading to Kansas City. Terrific everyday defense with just enough offense to make you think he maybe can pull it together is just about Kansas City's punching weight in a typical free agent marketplace.

J.D. Martinez: No rumors. We probably won't hear much until February.

Alex Ramirez: Once a top-100 prospect, and still a baby so somebody will give him a kick.

DJ Stewart: One week into free agency, no tumbles for DJ.

Jesse Winker: Things will heat up for Jesse around the winter meetings, but some small hint of a rumble is out there talking about a return to the Reds, but again, that's columnist wishcraft, rather than actual reportage, which is what we're really looking for here.
