Re: Mets pivot to Pivetta?
I would rather they resign Manaea.
It appears that a front of rotation starter (Burnes, Fried, Flaherty, or Snell) is not in the Mets plans for this off-season. The Mets are reportedly in on Sasaki, but I will be very surprised if he signs with anyone other than the Dodgers or Padres.

So would I.

4.76 career ERA. Has never had an ERA below 4.00. 1.316 WHIP. Turned down a QO so costs a draft pick.
Not sure what they see here.

I look at him and wonder why he didn't take the QO. Unless the draft pick has scared most of his suitors away and he's a bargain (like, 2 and 30), I don't see the point.
The only starting pitcher pitcher acquisitions so far where I think the buyers paid a reasonable price are Yusei Kikuchi (3 and 66 from the Angels) and Alex Cobb (1 and 15 from the Tigers). Clay Holmes might be worth the gamble, and he's not a huge overpay for the pen if the rotation doesn't work out. But most of what I've seen so far is nutty. I hope Pivetta's not being treated like an ace.

Have we shut the door on Roki Sasaki? The Hot Corner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:44 pm I would rather they resign Manaea.

No, but there won't be a decision on Sasaki until mid-January at the earliest. (I think his posting date is January 15.)

You dropped the last line of my post, in which I addressed my thoughts regarding Roki Sasaki. Repeating for clarity (and I hope I am incorrect regarding my impression). The Mets are reportedly in on Sasaki, but I will be very surprised if he signs with anyone other than the Dodgers or Padres.Edgy MD wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:51 pmHave we shut the door on Roki Sasaki? The Hot Corner wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:44 pm I would rather they resign Manaea.

Well, look at my reading comprehension or lack thereof on display for all to see.
My apologies.

I sincerely hope I that my impression that Roki Sasaki will sign with either the Dodgers or Padres. I still hope the Mets can get Manaea back in the Mets rotation.
