As it pertains to Pete Rose, he should be in the Hall of Fame, but pardoning him—though largely inconsequential in the long run—seems more like an effort to stick it to some Man, though I'm not sure which. It just doesn't seem necessary.

Well, it's tax evasion that he was federally convicted of. It would be the only thing he is eligible for a pardon over.

Rose’s family is petitioning MLB to get him posthumously removed from the ineligible list in hopes that that would be the first step to HoF enshrinement. A pardon from the White House doesn’t hurt.
