Neither of his names may seem spelled quite right, but he's pretty much even money now to be the Mets' Opening Day backup catcher.

I'm as surprised as you are, but there's something to be said for being a cornfed Nebraskan who looks like a World War II sergeant played with an unflappable toughness by a young Ed Harris. He's now on at least his fifth organization at 29 and maybe he's just been biding his time, waiting for his moment. He didn't start showing his power until 26, his career got sidelined by the Covid pandemic, but hey, he is the 2022 MVP of the Southern League, and that is the sort of thing nobody can take away from you.

He's got a spring training grand slam in his Mets highlight book and he's looking for more. What more will there be?

Only two photos for this guy because I've got to go grocery shopping.

Until Alvarez returns, we'll be sweating every time Luis Torrens takes a foul tip off his hand.
But should Reetz make it into a game, he will be productive (for a backup catcher):
22 G (not all starts) .225-2-10

If you're blue, and you don't know where to go to
Why don't you go where fashion sits?
Puttin' in the Reetz
Different types who wear a day coat
Pants with stripes and cutaway coat, perfect fits
Puttin' in the Reetz

He'll thrive from the bench

3 games, 3 at-bats, no hits.

The Mets will Cancel him quicker than Robinson.
