And here we go again! Schaefer is the Tabloid Cover Derby's less popular little brother, but it keeps chugging along. Voters will vote, votes will be tallied, awards will be announced, and custom Topps baseball cards will be presented.
Participation is welcome and encouraged! Those who vote in every game will get a free crappy gift and a chance to dance with Maja at the CPF Christmas party. But intermittent voters are welcome too. It's pointless and tedious and of dubious meaning, but we do it anyway!

Pointless and tedious and dubious are what we're all about.
No wonder this has gone on as long as it has.
It fills a void.

Saw this at my local beer store this past weekend. AFAIK, only available in 30-packs

Well, it is the one beer to have when you're having more than 29.

Hopefully the board runs smoothly and doesn't make it more tedious
This commercial is one of those that's ingrained in my memory, word for word, sound for sound, note for note. It was in heavy, heavy rotation on "Channel Nine" during Mets game in its time. I watched the youtube clip and was able to anticipate every single word of dialogue, right down to the "Sing. You better sing, boy" I know that there are many members here who are about my age, and thus, from the same generation. Youse probably remember this commercial very well, too, if you were watching the Mets, which I know youse were.

Cheap enough to give it a shot but I'm afraid I'll be stuck with 29 beers I don't want

The last guy to (sternly but sonorously) tell him to sing kind of looks like Lou Rawls, but almost certainly is not, as Rawls was already a big shot by 1972, and would go on to be a voice of Budweiser a few years later.
BUT ... I am almost just as certain that the SHHH ... guy near the end is Paul Benedict.

Me to self [upon reading this some 10 minutes ago]: Ooooh, I'm so going with the line about how it's the one beer to have when you're having more than 29
KC [very next post]: Well, it is the one beer to have when you're having more than 29.
Me: Nerts!!

Baseball Reference is always slow getting off the ground once the season starts, and since they're the source of the box score data, Schaefer voting will be slightly delayed for last night's game in Houston. I know how disappointed you must be. Please refrain from rioting and overturning vehicles. Thank you.
