I haven't seen this, but is the controversy around the lack of big Oscar noms warranted?

I'm picking up an ironic mad vibe from those decrying a feminist flick only got a nomination for Ken.

I didn't see this movie nd probably won't

And it did get a Best Pic nod so it's not like a total snub.
But, yeah, when the female director and female lead get passed over but the male supporting doesn't it raiseds eyebrows.

When the field of nominees for Best Film is expanded to 10, but the field of nominees for Best Director remains capped at five, it's almost like they are engineering this sort of controversy into the process.

I'm probably not going to get too animated.

Yup. Those two categories have traditionally been linked most of the time.

Fun fact: I feel like I spent the year watching shit on screens, but the only nominated film I saw was Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, nominated for Best Score.

I'm such a shlub.

Opposite Fun Fact:

When the Oscar nominations were announced we realized we had seen 9 of the 10 Best Picture nominees, all in a theater except for Maestro. So, Saturday we went to see the lone holdout, Anatomy of a Fall (really good). Have not seen the Indiana Jones movie.

Streamed it at home, and it was okay. Not really sure what the fuss was about. Ryan Gosling looked like he was having the time of his life, and it's always good to see Rhea Perlman. But I couldn't look at the color pink for a week.
