Yes , I should have phrased it as a German adaptation of the book and not a remake, with German actors etc. The original movie ( 1930) was banned in Germany, and some other countries

Metirish do you mean you understand German?

That’s a question that I’ve always wondered and it’s gonna sound dumb but do most European natives speak at least a couple other languages?

Oh , I don't , German with subtitles, I believe way back when I had to enable "original" language as Netflix uses dubbing.

In Ireland many people would speak Gaelic and English, having said that most of us are not fluent in Gaelic. I would think depending on where in Europe you are you *might speak more than one language, but it's hardly the norm.

Right in more central areas I guess.

I've found that many people in Europe speak two languages... The language of whatever country they live in... and English. (More common in younger people, who've been learning English in school.)
