That was a top call. I'd love to 'ear that bloke and Peter Moylan in the booth callin' games.

Mets fans went from agony to ecstasy in abour two seconds. The train ride was delicious, full of silent Philly fans and Met fans with shit-eating grins, passing knowing glances that we got away with one today.

Glad I was over here so I didn't have to listen to Michael Kay. He's a proper toffer, that one.

Absolutely, and Pete did a great job, too. If that ball gets by him, the next Phillie scores and probably the one behind him.

And we can curse the bullpen again (although at least this time they ALMOST blew it instead of completing the job)
but save some barbs for those in the top of the 9th.
After getting the first two batters on with a walk plus an actual hit, once again (say it with me folks) NO ONE GOT THE BALL OUT OF THE INFIELD!!
They hit a weak grounder (play not made, run scores) BB, and then, with the top of the lineup up: PB (run), K, HBP, K, weak GO
The offense didn't win that game, Alvarado (with help from Bohm and Realmuto) handed it to us.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take it. But they tied it up and went ahead AND STILL had the bases loaded with none out.
Most teams tack on two additional runs out of that situation merely by accident. But that doesn't work when you're
swinging rolled-up soggy newspapers instead of wooden bats.

The local news guys said it was only the eighth time in major league history that a game ended with a play like that. (2-2-3)
A veteran move.

It didn't look like Torrens turned his ankle on that play. I think he likely got spiked but the camera (rightfully) moved on
to focus on 1st base before the sliding runner's feet got to the plate so we couldn't see.

Finally saw a different angle to the game ending play and, yeah, Torrens got seriously upended after he threw to 1st.
Legal, but a hard slide just after he released it that took his feet out.

Good call

I initially thought the announcer asked, "Are they gonna get the rubber at home?!"

The Mets need to bring that guy back with them. I think we've found Gary's backup.

I missed the entire game due to the goofy start time. Nice finish there by Torrens

I'm watchin' the broadcast of the game now. Blimey, Tim Kurkjian's gotta stick to anythin' that ain't involvin' speakin'. 'Is voice is so bleedin' pubescent, it's proper annoyin'.

Gotta give it to Michael Kay. Even though 'e's a bleedin' Yankees homer, I appreciate the excitement 'e showed for the Mets at the end of the game.
