IGT 06/08 Mets vs Phils Let's Keep it Going Part III
Re: IGT 06/08 Mets vs Phils Let's Keep it Going Part III
Even just looking at his terrible 2024 numbers, Jeff McNeil has a .299 OBP vs. righties, as compared to J.D. Martinez at .295, and that last at-bat was, of course, a situation where a walk was seemingly as good as a homerun.
That he was less a candidate to make two outs on the play is obvious.

They also screwed up the scoreboard stats for the first few innings, and the replays were kind of 70's era TV.Gwreck wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 6:20 pm Of those who appeared affiliated, probably 70% Phillies fans. Some vocal contingent behind the Mets dugout and plenty of cheers when they scored first but not much of a home field advantage.
Foul territory was not as expansive as perhaps feared, and certainly less than, say, Oakland.
The screens, however, were really excessive. Almost no foul balls made it into the seats, and was largely impossible for players to throw balls into the stands.
Mike, David, and Mookie all prominently sitting in the first row of the boxes behind the Mets dugout was nice to see.
Scoreboards were surprisingly small for a stadium built in 2012. Sure, we’re spoiled at Citi Field but key information (pitch velocity) was missing.
Fan engagement seemed good and overheard more than once that the pitch clock is a good thing.
Did not see a single person keeping score (other than me).
All in all, a lot of fun despite a poor performance from the Mets. Here’s hoping for a split tomorrow.

And if they're selling this as an expansion to English fans, it's not working. The only English accents I heard were the folks behind the concession stand. Everyone else was American.
Definitely a Philly crowd.

Pulled pork BBQ sandwich and fries, not bad. They were making a big effort to 'Americanize' the food. They had an enormously long hot dog that I wasn't about to try. And yes, no interest from the British general public Not on the news or anything.batmagadanleadoff wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:00 amWhatcha eat yesterday?Lefty Specialist wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 2:59 am And if they're selling this as an expansion to English fans, it's not working. Since his first relief appearance on May 10, Houser's ERA is 3.60 (including his six-run start on May 21). Post-May 21, he has a 0.82 ERA in 11 IP.
