Which would be, I suppose, better than being taken down by the clap.

I'm all good with the bunt there.

I don't know what they're booing Alonso over. It's them that he threw the ball to.

The second-baseman was WAY over by second.

Masyn's mistake was crossing the bag before making his throw and double clutching even then.

Wow. I've never seen McNeil stand in the box after ripping into one.

This game went from a dinky single away from tying the game to a blowout in a big hurry.

Gary: "It appears that the fog has cleared for this team, after the early-August post-trade-deadline swoon."

That's a nice thought, but I'll wait until I see them play Atlanta again.

While discussing shortstops with super arms, José Oquendo might well be a part of the conversation.

I like the precedent José getting into the Cardinal HoF when much of his legacy is as a coach. It helps Rube Walker's cause.

It migh be fun for the Ortega-Arauz Mets to make a playoff run

It'd be fun as heck. That road has to go through Atlanta, though.

Walker needs some breathing strips. He's been mouth-breathing up at the plate.

San Diego and Arizona in a scoreless tie in the fourth.

I'm rooting against San Diego, because I want to catch the team just in front, but either way, the Mets gain if they TCB tonight. Washington charging hard right behind them.

For want of a (better game from) Naile, the game was lost.

It was probably lost anyhow, though.

It's interesting to be here for Masyn Winn's debut. This Cardinal team isn't as bad as their record suggests, but they certainly have lacked a certain Ke'Bryan factor.
