I never really liked Miguel Cairo. He was a favorite of Yankee-loving Met fans.

I'm too lazy to check if Maton is the first 88 in Met history, but I suspect he is.

Torrens is really giving Iglesias a run for his money in the Dark Horse Met of the Year competition.

Happy for all the cpf gaydamers in attendance.

Oh wait, they're only up by 7 and still need three outs!

7-0 lead in the 9th against a crappy team, and I'm worried.

Ronnie noting Otto's lack of success. "You just can't put him out there when you are playing a lot of close games."

"Hey, we could have our first shutout of the season here!"

"Or ... and hear me out ... we can put in Ottavino!"

I jest! Go, Otto!!

Time for the old guy with the broom!

Padres have an off day, so the Mets wake up tomorrow morning in the second WC spot.

Totally awesome game. Took a while to get going, but once it did, fun. Of course the bullpun had to load the bases in the 8th AND 9th, but wriggled free.

Hooky games are the best

On the plus side on Ottavino, nobody hit him: 27 pitches yet only one fair ball (three Ks and a somewhat soft single).
But, man, it was a slog out there. In all the Mets threw, was it three or four?, wild pitches all with a runner on 3rd
and yet not a single one of them came home!!

Other stuff:
- nice aggressive base running:
1) JDM going to 3rd on a single to CF
2) sending Nimmo on the hit following his bases-clearing double; w/2 outs it was the right move but I thought he'd be nailed (nice slide).
3) Pete taking 3rd on a hit which in turn set up the next run

- Juan Yepez sounds like a name David Letterman would have had fun with

- were behind the Nats until just recently (6/24) but now are six full game ahead.

Nice to see JD get 3 hits as he'd been slumping.

Alvarez got a full day off, which was nice.

No need to use Diaz, but I'm a little pissed at Young fouling the nest badly enough that they had to bring Dedniel Nunez into a game with a 7-run lead.

Impressed with Matos- K, K, pop-up and didn't seem to be fooling around out there.
