When you've got no runs and two hits through seven, there aren't enough pitchers in the world to save you.

Meanwhile, though, Danny Young is putting on quite the display.

He's allowed a total of 3 walks over his last six starts and hasn't allowed more than two in any one of his ten ML games (both stats include today's game).
NYM pitchers can't go six innings without issuing at least three walks ... or sometimes three innings without issuing six walks.

And yet, Snitker yanks him after 89 pitches, because the universe has decreed that the Mets must be given a chance.

At 0-for-13 in the series thus far -- high-lighted by the dopey bunt decision -- Kelenic hasn't done much to instill any trade regret among Met fans.

Passing the baton.
Who's going to re-start the streak?

The Hot Corner wrote: Sat Jul 27, 2024 5:55 pm Butto has been very good in the pen, but I'm not sure I want to trust Megill in a tight spot. With Nunez out, we need all the quality arms we can get in the bullpen.

Hopefully, we can acquire a quality starter before the deadline. If not, possibly another bullpen pitcher to take Butto's place.
No matter how good Butto has been in the bullpen, he would have a lot more value as a starter. He had 7 starts last year and another 7 this year and looked quite good.

Megill now has 61 starts in the majors and has had more than ample opportunities. He is not a good option to keep starting games.

Maybe it’s not a strict role swap per se, but with Senga and Scott out, Butto should certainly be starting over Megill.

Stearns has really done a poor job with bench construction.

Just watched this one.

You knew it was going to be a bad game because Tylor Megill was pitching.
