I was able to take in the entirety of this over satellite radio, as Fboy was home from college for the weekend and I was tasked with returning him to Oneonta this afternoon. We caught the ceremony, the rain delay chatter, and innings 1-2 on the way there, and the rest on the way back. Diaz locked it down about 20 minutes before I got home.

Three of 'em in a row actually -- Cincy, Atlanta, KC -- all two-of-three

I'd've sent Marte on the misplay by Renfroe.
Renfroe has a great arm but he was pursuing the ball with his back to the plate.

- I would not have, not with no outs anyway. Yeah he had to back pedal a few steps to fetch the ball, but that was all before
the runner even got to 3rd


- I did like the Marte send on the fly to LF. Didn't work of course but it took a great throw/good HP block and hold to get him.
- we hit a LOT of pop-ups today in key situations with runners aboard(ick). Not a good sign.
- that's two very nice games from Butto. This is a development that bears watching
- a LOT of borderline B/S calls in that bottom 8. Some favored one team or the other but ALL of the ones to Nimmo could have
have gone either way and ALL went our way. That, quite obviously, turned out to be Yuge
- I liked the non-PH for Bader there: more speed (and I was actually thinking of a slow IF grounder prior to it happening), and less of an
all/nothing hitter than the obvious lefty PH choice of DJ Stewart. Plus he's been short-term 'hot' over the last few days.

I kind of got the idea that Marte was downshifting already at the time the miscue happened, so sending him was perhaps more of a notion in the abstract than the real-world decision that Sarbaugh had to make.
