Nice inning by Lopez despite the double: three grounders, one of which found a hole, then a foul pop-out to end the game
which followed a previous foul pop which could have been caught plus a pitch which could have been strike three.

The double was on a pretty solid pitch as well.
First win in three years for Sean Reid-Foley.
But I'm thinking that DJ is our PotG.

Yeah, Jorge made lot of good pitches and, really, the leadoff dubble was barely worse than a walk and to some extent troubled me less.

Three run lead in the ninth, I’d prefer double over walk.Frayed Knot wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 9:55 pm Yeah, Jorge made lot of good pitches and, really, the leadoff dubble was barely worse than a walk and to some extent troubled me less.

Thoughts on the Game!!1
DJs HR crashed into the section just to our left, and literally as I was saying "What we need is a three-run Homer here." It was flying
I learned that Jorge Lopez is from New York. NY.
Once again it was frigid in the swirly Citifield winds, although they mercifully died down by the 7th. Hats and gloves, three shirts kinda cold.
I had a modest 4 hot dogs (only 1 with a roll) along with a Miller High Life, my new go-to Met beverage. Concession stands were jammed but I was fortunate Manea put a few guys on and so I didn't miss any Met at-bats.
Lively crowd as fans overindulged in hot dogs and beer, got excited about the Knicks updates and tension between Met and Cub fans. There was a beer throwing incident we could see on the field level and "F embiid" chants from the outfield.
I liked Ottavino last night.
Do we know why Martinez wears J.D. Martinez on his uni?

Except for the 2B killing the whole GiDP set-up thingie, yeah.Centerfield wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 11:01 pmThree run lead in the ninth, I’d prefer double over walk.Frayed Knot wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 9:55 pm Yeah, Jorge made lot of good pitches and, really, the leadoff dubble was barely worse than a walk and to some extent troubled me less.
But at least he opted to throw strikes over excess nibbling in a spot where even an HR doesn't kill you.

You'd've thought we'd've noticed by now, but apparently he's had a thing going for a while.Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2024 7:26 amDo we know why Martinez wears J.D. Martinez on his uni?
The important thing is that none of us see him and yell, "Hey, Victor!!"

Pete Crow-Armstrong couldn't enter the game until the seventh, just as Sean Reid-Foley exited. There's obviously some sort of quantum law about a hyphenate not being allowed to face a hyphenate.

They sold 44,269 hot dogs, which they announced as an all-time record.
Thanks for your contribution, Tuesday Night Mets Club.
