It's Ranger Suarez. According to script, the Mets'd need 100 innings to score five or six runs against this guy. Who's pitching tomorrow? Because Wheeler is Cy Young caliber this season and Nola is merely all-star caliber this year.Frayed Knot wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 2:46 pm 2nd & 3rd, no outs ... and then no ball leaves the infield for the rest of the inning.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

No, they'd go 0h-fer-3 w/RiSP if I were pitching.
Note where they got two out hits this inning? With bases empty of course.

Typical Met game- one bad inning they can't recover from.

Yup! Prior to this inning the Phils had 10 base-runners (9 hits + 1 BB) ... seven of them in an eight batter span.
Mets had almost as many (9) but never more than two in any one inning.

Could have used a little more Vientos in this game.

I get that feeling that JDM doesn't really care who wins.

Like it even matters? The Mets could lose every game left and probably still clinch a playoff spot.Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 4:03 pm I get that feeling that JDM doesn't really care who wins.
What a stupid shitshow. And now with more patches.

Final tallies: Mets ten hits (six singles, four doubles) and 13 total baserunners, but just two runs scored.
- There was One run producing hit, it occurred in the fifth AB of the game and was on the third attempt to score the same baserunner.
- 11 LOB, 2 for 11 w/RiSP (and several of those with multiple RiSP) and only one of them knocked in a run.
- The other run came via a weak grounder to 3B.
- They also tried their very best to hit into three GiDPs but managed only one. The other two were hit too weakly.

They suck intercontinentally now.
Re: IGT 06/08 Mets vs Phils Let's Keep it Going Part III
I was kind of pulling for a McNottinghill pinch-hit appearance in lieu of J.D. Martinez, so depressingly suspicious I was of a looming GiDP.
Re: IGT 06/08 Mets vs Phils Let's Keep it Going Part III
Of those who appeared affiliated, probably 70% Phillies fans. Some vocal contingent behind the Mets dugout and plenty of cheers when they scored first but not much of a home field advantage.
Foul territory was not as expansive as perhaps feared, and certainly less than, say, Oakland.
The screens, however, were really excessive. Almost no foul balls made it into the seats, and was largely impossible for players to throw balls into the stands.
Mike, David, and Mookie all prominently sitting in the first row of the boxes behind the Mets dugout was nice to see.
Scoreboards were surprisingly small for a stadium built in 2012. Sure, we’re spoiled at Citi Field but key information (pitch velocity) was missing.
Fan engagement seemed good and overheard more than once that the pitch clock is a good thing.
Did not see a single person keeping score (other than me).
All in all, a lot of fun despite a poor performance from the Mets. Here’s hoping for a split tomorrow.

The way that ball bounced gave me 70’s era astroturf vibes. It makes me wonder what’s under that layer of turf, and just how hard that playing surface is.
