A lovely springtime Saturday evening sends the Mets back (and back and back) to CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches where, if Houston isn't hosting, Washington certainly is. Today it's the former.

So today, CACTI stands for Caught-Assed Cheatin' Texas Insufferables, or something.

As they pare down their bullpen options, The Mets are perhaps hoping to get a look at a lot of them against the same competition today as reliever Michael Tonkin gets the nod for the start. Similarly, three leading candidates for the utility roles are all starting around the infield, batting consecutively in the order.

Tonkin is a great name.

Reminds me of when my grandson was very little and told me there was a boy in his class named Tinkin.

After I stopped laughing I texted his mommy to ask her who Tinkin might be. She said it had to be Teagen and that’s what he deserved for having such a stupid name

Good reflection on Tonkin Teagan Tinkin.

These dinnertime starts don't jibe well with my family life so I'm only able to connect haphazardly. The Mets are up 1-0 on Tyrone Taylor's first Metoid homerun, and Tonkin has just yielded his first hit with one out in the second.

Tonky finishes the second! We might have one of those multi-inning relievers!

Six-to-one was indeed your final. And the Mets had FOUR different pitchers go two innings apiece. They totaled 14 strikeouts of Astronomical players!

Also, Mets pitchers held Astrophage batters to but a single hit.

I'm following the battle for the reserve infielder spot. Jose Iglesias is fighting for the roster spot currently held by Zach Short. IMO, Iglesias is winning, with Zach coming up just a little, uh, short.
And Mark Vientos took a Golden Sombrero and is currently on the interstate. He joins most of the regulars who haven't found their hitting strokes yet.
