The previously un-named Pirate stater will be young righthander Jared Jones, a second-round pick from 2020 who has struck out 25 and walked only two thus far in his 18-inning rookie campaign.

It's probably a good thing that the Pirates got a hit here in the third. It would have been a mess if the Mets got a no-hitter after Joe wiped Reynolds first-inning hit off the board.
